A current A level tutee of mine told his father "I learnt more in that 2 hour session than I have all term at school" and his headteacher wrote to congratulate him on his improved grades. I have recently just finished my third year at the University of St. Andrews studying Italian and Spanish. I spent my third year in Italy working as an English Language Assistant in a middle school as part of the year abroad programme.

After having spent the last academic year as an English Language Assistant to students in a middle school in Italy, I have experience of teaching a range of different abilities and attitudes. Teaching a second language to over 120 pupils (aged 12-14) has provided with new teaching skills whilst also understanding difficulties that students overcome when learning a new language.
In my final year of sixth form, I volunteered my free time at the Preparatory School teaching introductory Spanish to pupils aged seven to ten and returned a year later during my University summer holidays.
The methodology I studied in an English Language Teaching section of a Linguistics module during my first year of University included the theory of language and learning which shapes the objectives, syllabus and activities of a lesson along with the tutor and tutee roles. In addition to this, I have also embarked upon a self-funded online teaching course for second language learning and the best tips and techniques in order for students to succeed.

Learning a language is complex task that takes a lot of practice and determination.
I tend to focus on grammar drills followed by exercises that include different topics of vocabulary, however I tailor classes to the needs of the tutee. My online classes include powerpoints, games and grammar and vocabulary exercises all through speaking or writing exercises.
As I studied for my GCSE's and A-Levels a few years ago, I have a lot of revision notes and books which are of great help and am happy to mark practice past papers for students as I know personally how helpful these are.

I am always mindful of differentiating my planning and teaching to cater for every child's ability, learning needs and styles of learning. This is because I have the experience of teaching children with a wide range of differing needs. I am also acutely aware of how Covid 19 has interrupted essential progress and delayed learners important development, and how this unwelcome change in their educational routine has impacted on a child's self esteem and ability to learn in a familiar and happy environment.

I am currently studying Medicine at university. Before then I undertook a gap year, where I spent the time tutoring students. I have managed to tutor students who were failing in their prelims, helping them to achieving an A in their final exam. I have also worked with students with Dyslexia. My name is Josephine and I'm 32 years old. I'm Danish but have lived in London since 2014 when I did my BA in Fine Art.
I have a Master's Degree in Animation Film from The Royal College of Art.
The past 8 months I've lived in Hebden Bridge between Manchester and Leeds to open our first Studio in FedUP Studio Lab, the production company where I work part time. My role is producer and assistant creative director. I'm a freelancer director in the company as well.
I'm currently living in London where I also arrange workshops in art and animation with galleries, UAL and FedUP Studio Lab. I'm enthusiastic, and I have a great love for knowledge and teaching as much as making films and art.

I enjoy tutoring because the process between student and tutor is wonderful. I learn just as much as my students and when you have worked hard for a while and start to see a shift in their behaviour when studying - understanding or producing - and they end up challenging you or teaching you instead, that is absolutely fantastic. It is the curiosity, development, hard work and shared knowledge.
