I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I am extremely proud to say that most of my students have achieved high standards in their professions and careers and to some of them, I am still offering advice and support.
To continue my development and advance in my career, I moved to the USA where I also worked as a teacher and became a Headteacher/School Director.

Tutoring Approach:
I have been a teacher more than half of my life. It has been a way of living to teach and translate to all ages, to my family and friends and to those who don't speak much of the English or the Portuguese language and to become an instrument of facilitation for people in order to understand communication, living situations and experiences in their lives.
At this moment, I am prioritising by teaching through online classes only .
I focus on conversational Portuguese, unless you are taking a GCSE or another business/school like directive. Even if you have basic or no knowledge of Portuguese, within a few classes you will be starting to speak and be able to start to express yourself in the language.
Grammar is approached but only with the intent of you being able to construct your sentences and understand what takes it to fluently speak.
I can offer a free 30-minute lesson for those who would like to try my classes and discuss their expectations in relation to learning the language.

Personal Description:
For me, languages are a vital component of a rounded education. I have always loved to travel and being able to communicate with people in different countries in their own language has always thrilled me. Teaching languages allows me to help others to enjoy their language learning, too.

I am a mum of 2 primary-aged children. We love visiting parks, going for a walk, swimming, scooting and playing. We also love making things, painting, and they love to help me with my little craft projects.
I am based in Herefordshire, and we have lived here for 13 years. We love the outdoor lifestyle and the peace and quiet.

Teaching Experience:
Before becoming a private tutor 5 years ago, I had taught in secondary schools for more than 20 years. During my teaching career, I have been a classroom teacher, a Head of Department, an Advanced Skill Teacher and an Assistant Headteacher. My favourite role remains that of teacher, helping and supporting young people to understand languages and, I hope, enjoy them.

Currently, I work as a private tutor, teaching 1:1 lessons to GCSE and A level students. I also have adult learners, who are complete beginners, and I run a Spanish club at my children's primary school.

Tutoring Approach:
A private tutor can play a hugely important part in building confidence and self-belief for students. It is my job, not only to support them to make progress, but also to help them to feel comfortable and confident with their work.

Every student will have different strengths and areas for support, and I prepare individual lessons for each student that I teach, ensuring that they are interesting and engaging, and that they help them to progress. Also, students will often have areas which they would like to improve. I will take account of these in the preparation of my lessons.

I have tutoring for over 5 years now. I have being tutoring adults, children and teenagers to achieve their gcse and even famous football players. People have been searching for me for short time classes so they are able to travel and understand the foreign language.

I understand learning a new language is not easy and also can be frustrating, but reassure yourself I am happy to repeat every matter until you understand and I will assess your difficulties and make sure you can overtake any challenges you may encounter during your tutoring time. I am flexible with availability to teach you , we can work on your pace. Depending what are you looking for, I will provide materials so you can understand and can reach your goal successfully. I do tutor online mainly but I'm willing to travel if you live nearby and for a extra cost.
