I am a fully-qualified professional teacher with more than 30 years of teaching and tutoring experience, both in the UK and abroad. 11+ and 13+ (Common Entrance)
I am very happy to report that all but one of my twelve Eleven Plus tutees passed the SET (Selective Eligibility Test) for Sutton's grammar schools last September. Of these, 100% of them passed the second stage exam and obtained their first choice of grammar or independent school. I use a selection of published materials and those of my own creation, and insist on a high standard of weekly homework in reading, writing and language knowledge. For 11+ pupils I start tutoring in Year 4 or 5, whereas 13+ pupils begin in Year 7 or 8.

KS2 and KS3 SATs
I usually start tutoring for the KS2 SATS in Year 5, and in Year 8 for the KS3 SATs. I tend to use a mixture of focused texts and past papers.

GCSE and A-level
I am equally happy to report that all of my most recent GCSE and A-level students have passed well, with top grades from B to A* (A-level) and 6-9 (GCSE). The majority of those have gone on to their first choice of further and higher education institutes, and in most cases this has been achieved by my insisting on regular homework done to a high standard. For GCSE pupils I prefer to start tutoring at some time in Year 10, whereas A-level students typically begin around Year 12.

I also provide individual tutoring in ESSAY WRITING and STUDY SKILLS, as my experience has taught me that many students at GCSE, A-level and undergraduate level face real problems in these areas. By working together on your essays, substantial improvements can be made in style, organisation, argument, presentation, and much more. This way, I can teach you how produce more effective and mature essays, and thus help you to obtain better grades and increase your confidence in producing written work.

Tutoring Approach:
With every tutee I carry out an initial assessment of his/her needs and abilities, and my teaching begins from there. Typically I work on improving their weaknesses and consolidating their strengths, and this essentially involves them producing high-quality homework on a regular basis. I use both established published materials and those that I have created myself over the years. This approach appears to be successful, and I can provide references.

While I'm a tutor, I'm also a supply teacher in my local area high schools principally for maths, physics and other subjects as required.

Experience as a tutor in the last five years with students varying from primary age through GCSE (KS-4) to further maths and A-level. Have also worked with mature students at college studying for HND and university maths.

Special educational needs (SEN) students worked with including those on the autistic spectrum (ASD), Asperger's, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dyslexia as well as OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance).

Within schools have worked with ILP (Individual Learning Plans) for students with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:
All students are different, so I strive to find what interests the student and work from there. An engaged student is a keen student.

It is important that the principles are understand because all else flows from this. I use examples from the students' course work and life situations to focus on what is important to the student, to put things in a language that they can understand. This can be through explanations, sketches, diagrams etc. When this happens and the light goes on, there is great satisfaction that the student is taking an interest in the subject.

I am passionate about languages and enthusiastic about teaching language. I teach Italian and English as a foreign language to all levels and learning purposes. Before being a teacher I was a student myself and I understand how difficult can be to learn a foreign language. My lessons are tailored according to my students' needs, learning styles and personalities.

Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified teacher specialised in Modern Languages (PGCE with QTS). I have been teaching and tutoring for several years. I had the opportunity to teach in different contexts, cultures and to different ages and levels. I have taught Italian to individual students and corporate clients with different language requirements and purposes. I have also conducted a preparation course for Italian GCSE and A level exams in schools across London. Previously, I taught English (EFL) to high school students and to primary school teachers in Italy. Courses included preparation for Cambridge English language examinations.

Tutoring Approach:
Some students come to me feeling unconfident and generally struggle to remember grammar rules or vocabulary, some others may not feel confident to express themselves. This is why I ensure my lessons are always motivating and fun!
I use a communicative approach where my students take active part in the lesson through understanding, thinking, eliciting and producing. My role as a teacher is to guide them through their learning process, considering their learning styles and personalities and making sure they always feel comfortable and engaged. I'm an enthusiastic and open to new challenges teacher, optimistic, positive, easy-going and happy. I search to make teaching an enjoyable activity opening new horizons for anyone who has decided to study foreign languages as it happened in my life. Speaking languages is a great opportunity to get to know the world around you and the world within yourself.
I fluently speak English, Spanish and Russian. I have extensively travelled to Spain and I have also worked with Spanish and South American companies. In my position of a freelance interpreter for Prestige Network I performed verbal interpretation from and to English, Spanish and Russian.
In my free time I like reading, travelling and taking pictures. I completed a course in photography in the Regional Culture and Art College in Saint-Petersburg.

Teaching Experience:
I received my higher education in the Russian State Pedagogical University named after Alexander Herzen at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, one of the best linguistic faculties of the country. I studied at the department of Spanish language and continued my studies of English as a second language.
After graduation I worked as the office manager and interpreter and acquired communicative and organizational skills in what concerned the functioning of an office, discussing everyday matters with the staff, calling customers.
I studied a course in teaching Spanish in the summer courses for foreign teachers organised by the University of Zaragoza.

As a tutor, I helped students to prepare for their A Level examinations which enabled them to receive highest marks.

Tutoring Approach:
I give individual and group lessons according to the requirements of my students. The duration may vary from 1 to 3 hours, where I combine conversational practice with grammar, I usually include all aspects of language learning such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. My principal aim is to achieve effective communication in the language I teach. I stick to the principle: learning is fun. There should not be any boredom in the classroom. Every lesson is supposed to be enjoyable and provide more resources for the motivation of the students and me as a teacher. I have mastered certain techniques necessary for teaching online. I have made myself familiar with a broad range of online resources and electronic educational material. I am open to suggestions and flexible in my schedule. I am also very patient and understanding.
