- I have held various posts at my school like History Buddy, Maths Support Club. Through doing this I feel I have gained a sense of nurturing and helping people, which I feel would be beneficial in a tuition role.

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost I hope to instil an appreciation of the subject in the student. I am able to explore the syllabus in a fun way. This can be particularly important if they have had a negative experience thus far with their own teachers. I have over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience in both university modules and A-levels for all major exam boards, specializing in computer science, programming, mathematics, and economics. This extensive experience includes both in-person and online teaching, encompassing one-on-one tutoring as well as small group sessions.

Throughout my career, I have maintained high success rates, and tutoring is my passion. My teaching approach is individualized, as I believe every student has a unique learning style. I adapt my methods to ensure the learning process is efficient and engaging for each student. Many of my students have secured places at Oxbridge and other top universities in the UK.

Over the years, I have accumulated and developed a substantial collection of learning materials and exercises in the aforementioned subjects. I share these resources with my students to help them master the material and excel in their exams. Many of these materials and exercises have been custom-developed by me to provide individualized support whenever the available textbooks and standard exercises are insufficient. Together, we develop a suitable teaching plan and identify appropriate teaching and learning resources. This teaching plan typically includes regular homework exercises for the student to study independently between tutoring sessions, reinforcing the knowledge and skills acquired during our time together. This approach makes the tutoring sessions much more effective, allowing us to focus specifically on the student's needs rather than spending time on concepts they can understand independently through textbooks or worked examples. I always aim to provide the best value for money, ensuring that even a limited or infrequent number of sessions can significantly improve the student's understanding of the subject and their performance in exams. However, I also ensure availability for as many sessions as needed, with many students opting for several sessions per week or even daily sessions when exam dates are approaching.

Teaching Experience:

My educational background includes undergraduate and PhD degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras (Greece). I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at prestigious universities such as Cambridge, Surrey, and Essex. Additionally, I hold a teaching qualification for Higher Education from the University of York. I have also taught undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the Universities of York, Warwick, and London in the aforementioned areas.

I have over ten years of experience working on industry- and government-funded R&D projects related to next-generation computing and Internet technologies, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. This experience has provided me with invaluable insights into advanced computing systems and electronics, novel techniques for computer networking and communications, as well as practical skills and knowledge in protecting systems and networks from cybersecurity threats. Furthermore, I have acquired strong programming skills across a wide range of programming languages and mathematical modeling techniques.

I'm currently working in finance for Molson Coors, having previously worked in external audit for PwC for 4 years where I obtained my ACA qualification.
Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. I am interested in sharing some of the things I have learnt over my years in education with others, which is why I'm keen to tutor. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing netball and renovating my house.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously mentored students through their GCSEs and Alevels at secondary school and really enjoyed it. I am the coach of a netball team so this also gives me skills which help to make me a better tutor such as patience, organisation and effective communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe tutoring is the responsibility of both the tutor and the tutee. I would like to plan sessions which are stimulating, engaging and involve ideas bouncing between the two of us, whether that is through debate, discussions or question and answer sessions. I see myself closer to the role of a mentor rather than a tutor, with my goal being to help students maximise their potential and achieve their set goals. These can range from academic excellence to securing a full-time job in investment banking or joining a top university.

I have studied Economics at UCL, where I graduated at the top of my class with First Class, Russian Studies at OXFORD, and Management at the Judge Business School in CAMBRIDGE (Distinction). Moreover, I hold a PhD in Economics (UCL, 2016).

As you can see in my profile, I characterise myself as an Investor, Entrepreneur, and Academic. As a university lecturer, I primarily taught Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Finance, and Industrial Economics to undergraduate students and International Business and Finance to Postgraduate students. FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION + QUALITY ASSURANCE

After purchasing my details, and so as to ensure the compatibility between the student and myself, I will organise a free 15-minute consultation, where we can discuss in more detail what are his/hers key objectives, the way I can support him/her in his/her studies, and devise a way to move forward. After the meeting, we can schedule our first session, and in case the student does not feel satisfied with it, I will provide a refund. Note that references are available on request and that I usually become fully booked by late February/early March. An enhanced DBS certificate is also available.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past 15 years, I have been helping more than 300 students with their studies in Economics, Finance, Statistics, and other Business-related subjects, primarily at the university level.
Looking specifically at the subjects I have experience teaching:
1. Finance: I have focused on: Corporate Finance, Time Value of Money, Bond Valuation, Stock Valuation, Advanced Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Derivatives, Decision Making and Simulation, and CFA Levels 1 and 2.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is tailor-made, meaning that I am always seeking to adjust to the particular needs of each student. In some sessions, especially those that are close to the exam period, I focus on developing their exam skills and go through some well-tested revision techniques.

For all sessions, the objective is to make the class as interactive as possible. I follow the "Socratic" approach to learning, whereby I guide my students towards obtaining the correct answers with a series of well-placed questions rather than providing the answers straight away. Lastly, I advocate an empirical understanding of theoretical concepts, thus frequently referencing real-world examples from my work in finance and seeking to bring theory to life through life examples, cards, games, and financial trading.

I am very patient and endeavor to build a strong working relationship with my students based on honesty and openness. I have high expectations of myself and my students, and as a result, I can be very demanding yet always committed to helping them achieve their goals. I pride myself in my RELIABILITY - meaning that I will never abandon a student before the exams or any other key commitments that he/she might have. I ensure **CONTINUOUS SUPPORT** for students, and I make myself available for questions via phone or e-mail throughout the day, outside class hours, and free of charge. I initially started teaching students at my local library. Finding it a very rewarding experience, I continued this passion by teaching 11+ and GCSE students. I have now added several A Level students as well to my lessons.

After graduating from the University of Birmingham with a 1st Class BSc Hons in Economics, I worked as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant at professional services firm, PwC.

In search of a more fulfilling profession, I made the move into teaching through the Teach First programme in 2018 as a secondary mathematics teacher. Since then, I have taught as a qualified classroom teacher in the UK and as a Head of Department (Mathematics, Science, and Design) in China helping students from the age of 10 to 19 achieve their academic and personal goals.

I guide my students towards obtaining correct answers with a series of well-placed questions rather than providing them with information to 'rote learn'.

I ask students to teach back what I taught them a few weeks ago which helps in improving their communication skills besides serving as a revision tool
