I am 50 years of age and have a wealth of experience in many aspects of life, including education and commerce. I have taught in colleges and schools and have run my own computer software company. I also have experience of property development. I am a computer science graduate and have over 10 experience working within the IT sector as a programmer, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Database Developer and then as an IT consultant. Having worked in at least 6 different companies including the NHS, I currently work with a major Bank as a Business/Systems Analyst and Data Architect. I am currently working as a teaching assistant for a special needs secondary school in Bromley Borough, having worked in the field of Information Technology for over 11 years. Working for a special needs school in the UK has given me an insight into education in the public sector. The reason I would like to teach Maths and ICT is that they are my favourite subjects. I have been teaching in Scotland for approximately 17 years now. I have been involved in a number of SQA and National Projects including tasks such as writing, marking and developing the course.

In my current role, I have full responsibility of delivering the new qualifications from S1 BGE through to Advanced Higher Computing Science. I have made the changes to our course and continue to develop these and the changes have been seamless in ensuring a smooth transition into the National Qualifications. I have been working on small projects for some companies and mostly working on freelance websites. I've been tutoring friends and other people aged between 12 and 24 for a while and I want to continue doing it.

I would first start with the basics, providing an understanding of underlaying concepts before showing examples that the student has to understand. With a Cambridge degree and doctorate in AI I have performed a wide variety of roles including AI research, technical support, network engineering, software development, web development, software engineering, systems analysis ... as well as teaching GNVQ, A Level and University Level. Most recently I have been working as a senior manager in a software engineering company. I am approaching retirement age and returning to teaching. I will start by loosely adhering to the Raspberry Pi's scratch modules which cover algorithms, and building with code. However, I believe in child led learning. If your child is less interested in making games or programming animations, and is more interested in technology and robots, we will follow the BBC's micro:bit projects. 🎓 These can be followed by a gentle introduction to Python when they are ready (a widely used text based programming language).
