I have been tutoring students across London in all aspects of Computing since 2015. Having a PhD and a 1st Class Degree in Computer Science from Sheffield University, I have a great deal of experience in everything from general programming to academic research. I worked for a decade as an academic at both Sheffield and Surrey Universities. I have helped many students through their studies at GCSE and A-level, teaching AQA, OCR and CIE syllabuses. For A-level and GCSE students it is worth beginning tuition as soon as possible, not just in the weeks running up to exams (although this can still help). I have 20 years of teaching experience in a range of school settings. I have been Subject Leader for Computer Science for the last 13 years and I have a proven track record for success, with 90% of students meeting or exceeding their target grades in both ICT and Computer Science every year. I have been teaching GCSE Computer Science since its introduction and all my students have achieved well in exams.

Not only have I taught at a GCSE Level but can also support the development of coding skills from the primary age range.

As well as teaching A Level Computer Science, I am also an examiner for the A Level specification.

I'm a passionate Computing Science teacher. I am fully GTCS registered and working at a school in Scotland teaching Computing Science at National 3, 4, 5, Higher and Advanced higher.

Teaching Experience:
I have 8 years of teaching experience from working in different Scottish schools.

I teach all secondary year groups. I have extensive experience of the Scottish qualifications system. I have a strong track record of preparing and putting pupils through the National 5 and Higher Computing Science course,.

I teach at National 3-5 level, Higher and Advanced Higher.

The programming language I primarily work with is Python, although I do have previous experience of using VB and Java.

I will take the lead from the pupil based on what they feel is their strengths and weaknesses.

I have a bachelor degree in "Mathematics and Computing", a Master degree in "Mathematics - Numerical Analysis" and a Doctorate degree in "Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence". I am friendly, enthusiastic and honest. I am also bilingual - English and French.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored Mathematics and Computer Science to "GCSE" students and above. I have given 1-2-1 tutoring/coaching to individuals, and courses/seminars to small and large groups of university students and professionals.

I have taught physics up and and including A level for 20 years. I have also taught maths up to GCSE for many years. I am a previous head of science & assistant headteacher. Previously, I am an examiner for OCR Physics at A level and WJEC for Science at GCSE and currently deliver the WJEC specification to students in Wales. Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to ensure students understand the areas of learning they are struggling with and build on that to ensure confidence in all areas of the course. I challenge pupils on what they already know to ensure it is correctly reinforced and their confidence grows. I tutor using reciprocal learning, where students are able to independently learn a topic and then have a tutorial style lesson where they reinforce that learning. Tutoring styles are always adapted to the needs of the learner which is very quickly established.
