Personal Description:
I completed Nuclear Power Engineering degree studies in 1990 after 6 years of training in Havana and Moscow. Between 1990 and 2004, I worked as a Biomedical researcher in the fields of Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Vaccine Development. This involves collaboration with many European and American research teams and working visits to leading Biomedical centres in UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and Spain including several UK Royal Society Fellowships and a UK Wellcome Trust International Travelling Post-doctoral Fellowship at Glasgow University Division of Immunology/Microbiology, which can be followed up by publication in peer-review scientific journals. Since 2006, I have been teaching Mathematics at GCSE and A-levels in the UK and currently, I am teaching at these levels plus International Baccalaureate Level. I have been an external marker (Mathematics in English and Spanish languages) for the International Baccalaureate Organisation for the last two years. I have lived in the three countries and worked for an American aviation company for more than 20 years which gives me a sound experience of the working world. Teaching has always been my early passion to which I am now fully dedicated. Most of all I enjoy teaching and meeting a variety of enthusiastic people willing to share and learn a foreign language.

I have been a Spanish Teacher and an English Teacher since 2002, and have worked as a Secondary Spanish Teacher and as a Secondary French Teacher.
I have extensive expertise in linguistics, and expert knowledge of the English language, grammar and literature. I studied the Bachelor's (Hons) degree in English Language and English Literature, and French language and Italian language at university.

I am a qualified native teacher of French and Spanish with UK QTS (qualified teacher status). My PGCE has enabled me to work in various secondary schools and colleges in England.

I have a life long interest in linguistics and studied this in depth as part of my English and Spanish degree at the university of Poitiers, as well as the Diploma in Translation.

I am often told that am kind and patient- I do believe these are necessary qualities as a tutor to create a trusting relationship with a young person.

I believe that learning needs to be achievable in order to increase confidence, this is especially true at the beginning of the tuition when I try to pitch the activities at the right level, before extending the student's further. .

I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts. After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside useful annotations, which can be kept for future revision (screen images).

This is accompanied by a personalised report after each class including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.
