About Me. I'm now taking on a small number of private students, as my university commitments have settled. I currently lecture at the University of Salford and have over 28 years of teaching experience. During the last three decades I have worked with numerous students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. My own experience is in keeping with all the studies I have read about this topic. The overwhelming majority of students can do well in mathematics provided they have the confidence, the techniques and willingness to work hard. Even after only six to eight weeks of tuition, all the students I have tutored have improved by at least one grade or one level.

I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. My name is Beth, I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. I have never been a super forceful or strict tutor and think that trying to be too overbearing, particularly in sessions outside of or extra to school like tutoring, just makes people perform worse. I will always try and be positive and make sure sessions are not painful for students (as I remember how much doing homework can be a chore!), but equally make sure students are getting the most out of sessions by asking questions of them to demonstrate their knowledge and checking they're confident with what we've done.

I am an experienced Chemistry teacher working in London. I am Head of Faculty of a large science department and teach Chemistry to A level, and Biology and Physics to GCSE. I hold a first class honours degree in chemistry and completed my teacher training (chemistry) and my MA in Science Education with King's College London. In addition I am an examiner for one of the larger exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:
I have an innate feature of make learning energetic and bringing about enthusiasm within students so that they continue to harness their learning naturally, without my presence. One main aim of my tutoring position is to employ students with key skills needed to efficiently revise, especially independently. Thus during crucial tuition periods, more time is spent approaching exam content, such as examination questions and reports and picking upon more complex revision content. However, all content is still taught from basic to the most highest of levels, to ensure full understanding of all topics as a whole. My students excel beyond teaching content in class and expected grades. I am a very efficient, yet calm and tutor and have a large amount of teaching experience which I would like to emanate.

I hold two Master's degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, earned in France and South Africa respectively. My strong academic and engineering background has given me an excellent understanding of Mathematics and Physics and their practical applications.

I have over 15 years of experience teaching Mathematics and Physics to students of different ages, abilities and academic levels. I have supported students in developing their subject knowledge, improving their problem-solving skills and preparing effectively for examinations. I am comfortable working with students who need additional support as well as those who want to challenge themselves and achieve higher grades.

My teaching approach is patient, encouraging and tailored to each student's individual needs. I believe students learn best when complex ideas are explained clearly and broken down into manageable steps. I use practical examples, guided problem-solving and regular practice to help students develop a strong understanding of the subject. My aim is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence, curiosity and independence as learners.
