The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. I firmly believe that the role of a tutor is that of a catalyst and the child's role in their own learning is of greater importance. I aim to guide the tutee to learn in a structured manner that so that the child does not waste their time jumping from topic to topic, randomly browsing a bit here and a bit there, as often happens. I will work to improve the child's self esteem, self belief and confidence in their ability to do well. As a trained hypnotherapist I am particularly qualified to boost a child's self-esteem. Once the tutee is confident in their subject knowledge, then we will work on exam techniques and exam practice in order to enable the tutee to ace the exams and significantly improve their grades.

I will work with each tutee on an individual basis and adjust the tuition lessons to their needs. There is no standard one size fits all model with me. Homework will be set to enable the subject matter to be reinforced with some self-learning at home. At the beginning I like to get a feel for what level of knowledge students have, and together we set goals for what we wish to achieve (e.g. time remaining until the exam, what grade they wish to achieve, if there is any particular section they are struggling with, etc..). Preferably, I like to communicate with my students before the lesson, so we can decide what learning outcomes to focus on during our session, so we can both prepare beforehand.

I work exclusively online via Zoom, with a shared interactive whiteboard, structured homework, and direct email communication between sessions.

Each engagement begins with a diagnostic session. I assess the student's current level, identify the specific gaps in their understanding, and build a tailored programme from there. Every student receives a strategy designed around their syllabus and their individual goals.

Typical sessions combine targeted concept work and past-paper practice. Between lessons, homework is prepared and shared on the whiteboard; I follow up by email once it is ready. Progress is reviewed continuously, and the plan is adjusted accordingly.

My students are expected to invest effort between sessions and complete their homework. I work with a small, carefully selected cohort of students each term.
