Tutoring Approach:
While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biomedical Science, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning needs. The 'one size fits all' approach to teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well in the right learning environment, and if there are no gaps in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose gaps in content knowledge and fill them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills and exam technique, which figure prominently in my teaching, combined with a well-rounded, in-depth content knowledge, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology, Chemistry, or Psychology exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has grasped the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content come alive. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam-style questions, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers. It goes without saying that regular revision is very important.

I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. In the cases for tutoring mechanics, my tutee found it difficult to identify and link various components of the forces together and to grasp the content clearly. Thus, I investigated the source of this lack of understanding then gave a clear explanation and support. Afterwards, I managed to explain various application questions using the struggling contents and interacting with my tutee (ie. asking what the next step would be) as I went through the questions to expand his understanding. I shared my method of working out the questions logically and giving clear guidance helped him greatly, hence, I was able to see improvement in his speed of understanding and solving of the questionnaires, showing a transition in his grades in Mathematics.

I've been a dedicated educator in London since 2012, working both full-time in a secondary school and as a private tutor. My passion lies in helping students thrive, particularly in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, where I lead engaging seminars and focus groups for sixth formers. I also offer personalized private tuition in these subjects, along with Arabic, up to A-level. I pride myself on my ability to connect with students, identify their specific learning needs, and build their confidence through tailored methods. Personal Description:
My name is Michael, a penultimate year medical student. I hold a BSc Biochemistry degree with First Class Honours from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a leading university in Hong Kong. I have a strong background in Sciences and Medicine. My passion in these subjects encouraged me to become a tutor, where I can guide and motivate students in their studies. My medical training also equipped me with patience, as well as strong communication skills and teaching skills. All these experiences shaped me to become an ideal tutor for students who want to achieve the best that they can do.

Besides academic, I am a black belt holder in Taekwondo, a Korean martial art. I started learning Taekwondo since I was six. I have taught students ranging from primary students to adults, in their pursuit of an active lifestyle and skills to defend themselves if needed.

Teaching Experience:
I have 6 years of tutoring experience in multiple formats. I have taught primary students in groups to guide them finishing their exercises and homework. I have also been tutoring 1-to-1 to a student in Hong Kong since she was in primary school. Her academic growth helped her getting into one of the most prestigious secondary schools. I have also been teaching my fellow medical students as part of my medical training, with positive feedback.

My approach is to tailor the needs of the students. To provide personalised guidance, I always check how much the students know first, followed by setting goals for each lessons. I would focus on explaining the concepts rather than simply reciting facts. Also, with my extensive background in Sciences and Medicine, I would provide examples and interesting facts to keep students being engaged in learning and encourage their curiosity in the subjects.
