I also use multimedia aids to help students visualise biological/chemical processes where appropriate and I have created PowerPoint files covering all A-level and GCSE Biology and Chemistry topics, tailored to each syllabus/exam board. My academic research background has given me a very sound understanding of how to interpret and analyse scientific data, a major theme in A-level Biology exams and one that many students struggle with. Since March 2020 , all of my tuition has been online (via Zoom) and I have adapted my lessons to work equally well, using interactive tools and easy sharing of resources. I like to understand my clients' needs, their particular strengths and areas for improvement. I teach the topic in the best possible way to match their learning needs. The key is for them to understand the topic by linking to something which they previously now. This creates a connection in their brain to help them remember and understand the concept long-term. I believe that a clear understanding of theory should be followed up with a range of examination style questions to test if the student has truly understood the work.

It is vital for students to truly get excited about the subject so by using real life examples, they can remember concepts more easily. I believe in going through problems with the students first and showing a clear example, then allowing them to practise until they understand and can do the problems on their own. Furthermore I sometimes guide them in the right direction without actually telling the answer so the child is able to figure it out for themselves. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practise. I would try to create a spark and make the pupils interested in the subject so that they can pursue their further studies with more enthusiasm. Finally, I always listen to the client and exactly what they require so I can adapt my approach.

I'm currently working in finance for Molson Coors, having previously worked in external audit for PwC for 4 years where I obtained my ACA qualification.
Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. Tutoring Approach:
It is easy to overcomplicate things.

- Anyone can learn anything. It's a matter of method, support, application, and belief.
- Students learn new material at first by seeing a need to learn the new thing (e.g. because they don't know how to solve a new problem), and connecting new information to things they already know.
- They then need to strengthen this understanding by engaging in problems themselves and trying to remember what they have learned.
- Many students need to gain confidence. This partly comes from encouragement, but true confidence comes from progress and success, which comes from following the above.
- Students need guidance. It's challenging enough to try to focus on the material. Teachers need to make sure that all of students' focus is placed on thinking about the content, rather than on sideline issues like trying to figure out what comes next.
- Efficiency is important. Most people have specific targets (e.g. passing an exam). Things need to happen quickly.
- At the same time, early stages sometimes need to take longer in order to build a foundation for what follows. Taking a step back can be important in order to be clear on what's really going on, and avoiding rote memorisation or "going through the motions".
