My name is Margo and I'm 44 years old. I am a high school French and Spanish teacher. I am also an avid cyclist and in 2011 fulfilled my lifelong dream of cycling round the world. My 27,000 km, New Zealand to Scotland trip took 2 years to complete and was the best experience of my life so far. As for other interests, I am a keen mountain biker and take part in the Scottish cross country championships every year.

For some students, gaining confidence with many of the concepts and ideas presented in geography at Key Stage 4 or 5 is difficult - especially considering the pressures of coursework, ongoing assessment and the natural workload provided by other subjects. Yet these concepts underpin much of the reality that geography deals with.

I aim to work closely with my tutees to identify their goals, and create a plan of action to follow to give them the very best chance of success. My experience will enable me to deliver high-quality lessons with unique insights, and these can be supplemented with homework and independent tasks to consolidate knowledge and cement understanding.

Regular communication between tutee and tutor is key, and maintaining this with my tutees throughout their journey with me is one of my highest priorities. This way, we can celebrate successes and milestones towards our goal, but also intervene in good time if any part of our action plan needs adjusting. In the same way, I would always encourage tutees to approach me to share their thoughts on how things are going, so that I can continue with what's working and revise things which can be improved.
