Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified teacher of Biology and Environmental Science to A Level, and Maths and the three Sciences to GCSE. I taught for many years in both the private and state sectors.
A semi-retired Environmental Scientist, Zoologist and Freshwater Biologist, I am also fluent in Spanish and German, having spent many years living in Latin American countries, working for German and British multinational companies.

Teaching Experience:
I taught GCSE Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and Maths and A-Level & IB Biology and Environmental Science in both the state and private sectors for many years. I have tutored students in these subjects and levels during the past 10 years, with excellent results almost always surpassing the student's predicted grades..
I have also supported Spanish-language classes and individual students at GCSE level, and have worked on conversational Spanish with adult learners.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe the key to successful tutoring is to provide the help, support and encouragement the student needs. Unlike a classroom setting, the agenda is and must be driven primarily by the student. Thus my first task is always to help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, and what they want to get out of the tutor sessions. From this we jointly develop a strategy and plan of action. I then tailor my approach to fulfil the student's requirements.

I have graduated in BSc hons psychology and health science at 2.1. I have passed A levels in psychology, biology and chemistry. I can provide a recent CRB enhanced disclosure certificate for myself. I have completed a PGCE Chemistry at Liverpool John Moores University. I am a qualified Psychology and Science teacher. I am now teaching science at a High school within a Science department.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for 11 years within mainstream secondary schools. I am now working at a school in Yorkshire as a Science/Psychology teacher to KS3, KS4 and KS5. I have superb grade outcomes for the students I teach. In 2025 my 34 students all achieved grade 6+. With more than 80% gaining grade 7 or above.
I can tutor adult learners who want to pass the biology or science a star equivalency test.

Tutoring Approach:
Many methods of teaching are used within my lessons, in sync with the curriculum. Methods include visual, auditory and interaction: powerpoint presentations, videos, sound clips, going through a book, role play. Tutoring should be a fun learning environment in which the student feels comfortable.

Hello. My name is Dr. Zara and I tutor students in the age group 13-18. I hold a Ph.D. in medical biochemistry and a PGCHE from the University of Kent. I am currently working at the University of Bristol.

I specialise in teaching Chemistry and Biology at A-level, specifically for OCR and AQA exam boards. I also teach Edexcel Biology (SNAB). I come across as a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor. I strive to make learning a creative and enjoyable experience, while always keeping the students goals in mind.

Teaching Experience:
I have six years teaching experience at both undergraduate and post-graduate level, in addition, I have been a part-time tutor for four years. All that I can say is that Ellie is fantastic. When she was teaching myself and my brother A Level Chemistry, she always gave short, concise explanations of concepts in a way that we easily understood. Also, she gave us past paper questions after each topic so that we had plenty of practice at exam technique. She marked these and sent us feedback on what to improve on. This meant that when it came around to do our exams, we were fully prepared for them and confident that we could do well. During lockdown, she was very flexible as she either had online lessons with us or set us exam papers that she marked and sent back to us with details on how to improve. Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.
