Unlike most tutors, I am a qualified teacher and have been a successful Head of Physics, Head of science and currently Lead practitioner in charge of STEM outreach. I am actively involved in training other to improve their Science teaching.

I am an experienced Head of Physics and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science. I have vast experience of tutoring from year 7 up to A-level and unlike other tutors I am also teaching in the classroom. This allows me to be up-to-date with curriculum changes, coursework requirements and thorough knowledge of areas which students struggle with in all aspects of Science. I like to understand my clients' needs, their particular strengths and areas for improvement. I teach the topic in the best possible way to match their learning needs. The key is for them to understand the topic by linking to something which they previously now. This creates a connection in their brain to help them remember and understand the concept long-term. I believe that a clear understanding of theory should be followed up with a range of examination style questions to test if the student has truly understood the work.

It is vital for students to truly get excited about the subject so by using real life examples, they can remember concepts more easily. I believe in going through problems with the students first and showing a clear example, then allowing them to practise until they understand and can do the problems on their own. Furthermore I sometimes guide them in the right direction without actually telling the answer so the child is able to figure it out for themselves. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practise. I would try to create a spark and make the pupils interested in the subject so that they can pursue their further studies with more enthusiasm. Finally, I always listen to the client and exactly what they require so I can adapt my approach.

I have a decade (12+ years) of teaching experience as a private tutor. I started providing online tutoring services in 2020 to ensure classes run during the pandemic.

Since 2020, I have become a full-time private tutor providing Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology tutoring.

I mainly focused on students from primary school to A-level, but have taught up to Bachelor Degree level for University students (BSc).

Tutoring Approach:
My students would describe my teaching style as calm and methodical.
Each student faces different difficulties therefore improvement begins by identifying those key issues in the first few sessions.

From then, we can work through these core areas and build confidence to secure specific knowledge and build familiarity with common methods and techniques. These new found skillsets and knowledge enables the student to succeed in their grades by practicing exam questions, with tailor-made weekly assignments, thus reducing anxiety over the exam period.
