Recently retired. Until the advent of Covid I would always travel to the tutee. I was forced into online tutoring very reluctantly. Being happy with the technology meant the transition was much smoother than I anticipated.
I am now so happy with this method of tutoring I would even use it if the tutee was living next door.

The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. I firmly believe that the role of a tutor is that of a catalyst and the child's role in their own learning is of greater importance. I aim to guide the tutee to learn in a structured manner that so that the child does not waste their time jumping from topic to topic, randomly browsing a bit here and a bit there, as often happens. I will work with each tutee on an individual basis and adjust the tuition lessons to their needs. There is no standard one size fits all model with me. Homework will be set to enable the subject matter to be reinforced with some self-learning at home. On the other hand a brighter pupil may be so far ahead of his or her peers that the teacher is just not able to give them the attention they need. It is never too early to start boosting a child's education. For primary school children it is important that they get a good start to their education and do not lag behind. A tuition boost will enable them to get into a better school or a higher stream set so that they do not have to struggle or get left behind when the come to do their GCSE and A Levels.

I also have experience of vocational courses such as the BTEC and Applied Science courses and I am able to provide the additional guidance and support required to ensure that your child achieves Distinctions rather than passes in their assignments. Hi I'm Meghavi and I am a BSc Physics graduate from Imperial College London and I have a QTS (Qualified Teaching Status) at grade 1 - Outstanding. Currently, I work as a Consultant in the Digital Transformation space. I have always been interested in teaching, from my GCSE years, I began helping my friends with their school work. Moving to A level years I started helping out some of the teachers in my school to run after school sessions to help kids with their Homework. I would say I am very patient and will sit there till the concept is clear in their minds. I am not the kind of person who gives up easily so I will do what it takes to make sure an idea or concept is understood. As a person I am very friendly and bubbly. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing netball and renovating my house.

I am a UK qualified teacher with 20+ years' teaching experience. I currently teach all GCSE sciences as well as Year 12 and Year 13 A Level Chemistry at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. I am a designated Advanced Skills Teacher; recognition of my outstanding classroom practice and the excellent results that this generates for the young people I teach. I work for the Cambridge International Exam Board, being an experienced marker of A Level chemistry. In 2025 the A-level classes I taught achieved on average a whole grade higher than other students studying AQA chemistry nationally, which put my results firmly in the outstanding category as measured by ALPS.

In person I am able to offer in-person tuition in and around the Derby, Ashbourne and Uttoxeter areas. I also offer remote learning via MS Teams.

As a mom of a child with special needs I have learned the importance of teaching from known to unkonwn through individualised fun games and activities.
