Tutoring Approach:
I have been tutoring privately for over 25 years and my particular strengths are preparing students for examinations. I find pupils soon feel more confident about their own ability and realise that Mathematics is not as difficult as they once thought.
Examination technique and consolidation of past exam questions is a skill in itself and often learners need extra guidance on this which I enjoy providing.
As a am a full time teacher I am fully aware of the main syllabuses within the UK and what is expected of the pupils and I have access to all the necessary resources. I always provide students with all the materials that they need for the lesson and plenty of homework.
I thrive on offering face to face one to one tuition and can come out to the student or vice versa they can come to me.

I found Ahmad very helpful for exam question practice, which is the main thing he focuses on rather than explaining content, unless you get a question wrong because you don't know the information. He keeps track of which questions you get wrong and then recaps them at the beginning of the next lesson until you get full marks on it, which I found really helpful. I have a lesson plan ready prior to the session, but am generally flexible in my approach to the content I teach; sometimes, the lesson focuses on helping the child with their homework or reviewing a test paper from school. I love past papers! These for me were key when I was revising for my Highers, Advanced Highers, and even for the Medical School entrance exams such as the BMAT, UCAT, and TMS (Germany). I believe they offer key information on what exactly it is you need to know, and to what standard/ depth one must answer questions. At the beginning I like to get a feel for what level of knowledge students have, and together we set goals for what we wish to achieve (e.g. time remaining until the exam, what grade they wish to achieve, if there is any particular section they are struggling with, etc..). Preferably, I like to communicate with my students before the lesson, so we can decide what learning outcomes to focus on during our session, so we can both prepare beforehand.
