After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. I firmly believe that the role of a tutor is that of a catalyst and the child's role in their own learning is of greater importance. I aim to guide the tutee to learn in a structured manner that so that the child does not waste their time jumping from topic to topic, randomly browsing a bit here and a bit there, as often happens. To do that, as tutor, I will facilitate their learning on a 1 to 1 basis so that they may gain a deeper and greater depth of knowledge of the subject. I will work with each tutee on an individual basis and adjust the tuition lessons to their needs. There is no standard one size fits all model with me. Homework will be set to enable the subject matter to be reinforced with some self-learning at home. I am a Biomedical Master's student with a First-class BSc. in Biochemistry. I studied Maths (A*), Biology (A*), and Chemistry (A) at A-level. I offer well-rounded Maths and Science tuition geared towards the UK syllabus at competitive rates, and have a passion for life sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 7 years of experience working as a private tutor, and have taught Maths, Biology and Chemistry to students ranging from KS3 to A-level. I also teach Physics to GCSE level. I also have worked as a volunteer mentor in my secondary school, helping children learn how to study and do exam preparation, and have worked as a mentor for Zero Gravity, providing university entrance advice and feedback on personal statements.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe learning works best when it feels more like a conversation, which is why I use the Socratic method. It's centred on asking questions and encouraging curiosity, guiding a student step by step so they discover the ideas, patterns and solutions themselves. My lessons are structured but never rigid. I adapt to each student's needs, set clear goals, and create a supportive space where it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them. The aim isn't just to pass exams, but to build lasting confidence and understanding.
