I am a mature lady (60yo) with a 1st Class Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree (B.Sc) and a Postgraduate Management qualification from Cambridge University. My own 'A' Levels were Biology, Maths and Physics with a particular focus on electronics. At University I studied Maths at degree level.

After working as an Engineer I changed career in my late 20s and moved into the world of Therapy and Healing. I trained in hypnotherapy and craniosacral therapy as well as Human Design. I have worked with young people utilising various modalities to help them gain confidence and choose careers/subjects that bring out the best in them. I studied for a time in a Rudolph Steiner environment so I appreciate the value of alternative approaches and Artistic therapies to educating young people. Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

I am able to achieve hyper realism and my most valued pieces are usually portraits, but I have experience in abstract paintings as well as landscapes and still lifes.

I am a professional portrait and figure artist. I specialise in a variety of mediums including pencil, pastel, and oil painting. I have been teaching for 5 years to private students varying in different ages ranges from 8 years old to 70 years. My method of teaching is always catered to the student's needs and abilities. For example, if a student is a beginner and they want to learn how to draw realistically, I would show them how to understand the principles before we try to draw straight away.

To understand nature, we must understand how to see in order to translate that onto our paper.
If a student is more advanced, we will look at what really inspires them and how we can push their abilities by looking at the finer details, whether that is refining a good drawing to become more realistic, the equipment quality, or the tiny nuances in the line direction that need tweaking. We should always keep pushing ourselves and learning from what we do so I fully encourage people to embrace their mistakes and enjoy the process over the finished result.

Personal Description:
I am an RCA MA Painting graduate, and I have a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art from Westminster University, and a Foundation diploma in Art & Design from the University for the Creative Arts. I am a practicing artist based in London, specializing in painting, and I have been showing my work nationally and internationally. My recent solo show was at Class Reiss London, and I also had a solo presentation at Art Athina. My fascination with tutoring derives from my sensitivity around learning disabilities, something which is a recurring theme in my practice as I grew up as a dyslexic learner, as well as my educational experience of being part of leading academic UK institutions.

Teaching Experience:
Through my work as an art tutor I strive to inspire and support my students, offering insight to my experience as a RCA alumnus and to the professional life of an artist. I teach students of all ages, as I strongly believe that involvement with the arts is always eye opening and revealing, especially when this leads to a career in the arts through higher education.

Tutoring Approach:
I can offer art lessons for younger children, involving introduction to creative techniques and idea development, mentoring and support with portfolio preparation to apply for art schools internationally  as well as tutoring on contextualizing your work through constructive and generative feedback.
