Teaching Experience:
I am currently working as a teaching assistant for a special needs secondary school in Bromley Borough, having worked in the field of Information Technology for over 11 years. Working for a special needs school in the UK has given me an insight into education in the public sector. The reason I would like to teach Maths and ICT is that they are my favourite subjects. I have undertaken some private tuition in GCSE maths a few years ago and my current work is in the ICT department of my school.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe in one-to-one tuition because it gives the student an opportunity to ask questions about the subject matter, without being seen as stupid. Also, my experience in private tuition has given me an insight into the type of difficulty that students face. Since 2012 I have been working in schools, initially as a supply teacher and recently as a Maths Teacher mainly at GCSE level. I specialise in one-to-one and small group tuition (up to 4).

I have worked in bioscience research and more recently in life science marketing and academic conference management in chemistry and biochemistry. I am a Chartered Chemist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and committee member of the Protein & Peptide Science Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Teaching Experience:
I have many years' experience in one-to-one teaching, starting with giving undergraduate tutorials at the University of Oxford. I have been offering private tuition in A-level Chemistry and Biology for over 10 years.

I am able to tailor my teaching style to the individual needs of the student and to make best use of online and other electronic resources to help students to an understanding of the subject.

Tutoring Approach:
I start by identifying the particular needs of the student: do they have problems with understanding some or all of the subject; are there any areas of weakness that need to be strengthened; are there issues with exam technique that need to be addressed?

Even well taught students who have a good grasp of the subject can fail to achieve their full potential through poor exam technique. My earlier experience as a Chief Examiner, responsible for setting and marking A level exams, means that I have a detailed knowledge of the exam system and how students need to approach exam papers. My current examining experience has given me an insight into how to help students avoid unnecessary loss of marks by developing clear and rigorous approaches to their answers and to develop strategies to approach individual questions so as to maximise their performance.

Hello, I am 21, live in Hull and have been playing the drums for around 5 years. I am currently studying Music Performance at university and have just finished my first year in Bristol. I have lots of experience playing live with various artists and bands. I play many styles and appreciate all music as an art. I mainly play pop, rock and metal but am well grounded in jazz, latin, reggae, drum and bass, blues, hip hop and funk.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience teaching; I started off doing it voluntarily to assist friends but the interest grew and I began getting more and more into it teaching from my home on my acoustic kit. I keep growing as a player and as a teacher.

Tutoring Approach:
I am very passionate about teaching as I believe a good player doesn't make a good teacher. I believe in breaking things down to the simplest level to give the student the best foundation possible. I teach everything from beginner to advanced, all in accordance to want the student wants mostly, then I will create an appropriate plan for he/she. I have seen students` confidence in their abilities increases and their understanding deepens. Both students and parents have offered positive feedback from the great improvement in their grade as a result of my tuition. For example, a student`s grade in A Level Physics improved from originally an E to an A after my tuition, while others attend their preferred schools after help revision for their entrance exams.

Teaching Experience:
After various school placements, such as teaching classes at St Aidan`s (ranked amongst the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country), for over five years I have helped a multitude of pupils ranging from as young as six through to mature students.
Having experienced rigorous training, I am an Examiner for a major board and have relished the challenges of marking
candidates` papers. I feel this gives me an invaluable perspective when preparing my students for their own tests.
I am familiar with the different examination boards, particularly AQA, Edexcel, OCR, CIE and ISEB. Covering English and Reasoning where desired, I have prepared students for 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations as well as the STEP and PAT tests required for the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. With my tuition, students have gained entrance to the schools of Aldenham, Fulham Prep, Harrogate Ladies, Sedbergh, Charterhouse and Latymer. After my tuition, candidates attained the necessary grades for their university offers, including from Oxbridge, to study courses relevant to our preparation. I also have experience aiding with IB and professional skills tests together with Pre-U and IGCSE.
I am happy to offer tuition for all other syllabuses as well, for example WJEC and for free-standing maths qualifications.
I also offer tuition to adults wanting to improve their own maths understanding and skills, for example to help with their career or to pass graduate skills tests such as Kenexa, SHL and numeracy for QTS etc.
I have helped several students with Asperger Syndrome, those with dyslexia and students who are home schooled, have conditions including severe physical handicaps, speech and language difficulties or have had to change school due to behavioural difficulties. Furthermore, I have been trained for and have taught looked after children and also have experience of helping those for whom English is an additional language.

I find I can relate to students in a calm and patient manner and I have enjoyed helping them through difficulties with their subjects. I previously worked in software engineering after studying my integrated masters in computer science and mathematics at the University of Sheffield in which I achieved a 2:1. I have been tutoring for 8 years now since the age of 17.
