Steven - Harrow tutor
Information About Steven:
Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Steven, a UCL graduate in History, Politics and Economics. I have 7 years of private tutoring experience, having taught over 100 students from primary school to pre-university level.
I achieved results within the top 0.1% of HKDSE candidates, earning 5** (the highest grade) in Chinese, English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and 5* in Economics, which is equivalent to 4 A* 1 A in GCE A Level. My academic background, combined with extensive teaching experience, enables me to support students in developing strong subject knowledge and effective examination techniques.
I specialise in GCSE and A-Level tuition, 11+ entrance examinations, IB programmes and university application mentoring. I also provide tailored support with university entrance examinations and personal statement writing.
My teaching is individualised, structured and focused on results. I work with students to address weaknesses, develop independent learning skills and prepare systematically for important examinations.
I aim to help every student make measurable academic progress while developing the confidence and discipline to succeed in an increasingly competitive educational environment.
Teaching Experience:
I have been a private tutor for 7 years. I have taught more than 100 students, ranging from primary school to pre-university level. I have experience in teaching GCE A Level, GCSE, 11+ exams, International Baccalaureate (IB), and Hong Kong curriculum. I also have experience in university application mentoring, including entrance exam training and personal statement writing.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to each student's abilities, needs and goals. I focus on students' understanding of what they are learning, rather than simply memorising content for exams.
I also take time to identify areas where students struggle and work through them step by step. Whether it is explaining difficult concepts, practising exam questions or improving exam technique, I aim to make lessons clear, engaging and productive.
Most importantly, students can feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as these are important parts of learning. I will work with students to identify common mistakes and to correct them. My goal is not only to help students achieve better grades, but also to build their confidence and develop the skills they need to become more independent learners.
