I am an experienced and well qualified teacher with an enthusiasm for my subject and a real concern for those who struggle with maths. I have helped many get over their fear of maths as well as helping able students to gain Oxbridge places. I have retired to this area where I enjoy living near the sea, and walking. I volunteer at the Regent Centre, sing with the Grange Choral Society and have three grandchildren, two in London and one in USA and spend what time I can with them, using skype to talk to my family in USA. My husband and I both enjoy gardening.

I am an Oxford graduate with more than 20 years of teaching experience in schools including A level maths and further maths (pure, statistics, and with a particular interest in mechanics). We will work through the exam syllabus and establish weaker topics that require more focus in order to give you a full understanding of the content needed to answer exam questions. I provide diagrams, images and clear step-by-step explanations to aid learning in a visual and engaging manner. I also find that students really benefit when I integrate discussion points and give them opportunities to try teaching something back to me, as it ensures the student has a comprehensive understanding while developing confidence. It is vital that students understand the content needed to answer the question but must also become familiar with the key ideas examiners are looking for. It is often how a student answers the question that enables them to get top marks however, this is typically the most challenging part. Consequently, exam techniques will also feature throughout tutorials as we progress through the course. I prepare questions and provide personalised feedback and guidance to help students excel in exam situations. Furthermore, we will work through case studies to broaden your knowledge and deepen your Geographical understanding by applying theories and models to real-life local and global examples. These can be embedded in your answers to provide the breadth and depth needed to obtain the highest marks.

I also offer help with structure and technique for academic writing and research projects for students undertaking an NEA or Geography-based Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Furthermore, I provide advice for writing a successful Personal Statement and can proofread your written piece to help you receive your first-choice offer.

Personal Description:
I have a MA in Production Design for Film and Television from Kingston University and a BA Hons in Furniture Design and Applied Arts from Edinburgh College of Art. I have worked in the film and television industry since 2004. I lead large teams of specialist designers, art directors, junior assistants, crafts people and construction teams. And I collaborate closely with other experts within the industry including cinematographers, directors and screenwriters.

A production designer designs the worlds in which the TV Drama or film is set. That includes working with location people to choose locations in which to film - and building sets in studios. It can also involve working closely with SFX teams. The role juggles creative vision with practical project management. It's a collaborative media/ industry and relies heavily on communication skills- visual and verbal.

Teaching Experience:
I've tutored students looking to win a place in art schools/universities and specialist creative high schools. Students looking to better their results at A level, and I've taught larger classes of young adults in university and workshops. I help my four year old with his art and design too : )

Tutoring Approach:
My approach depends on the students needs and I am very flexible. I can work in a very focused way with the students brief on course curriculum. Or more loosely- developing verbal and practical skills for a portfolio for art school/media design or communication courses. I'm down to earth and structured in my approach.

Personal Description:
I have studied martial arts for over 35 years. I represented Scotland most recently at the European Tae Kwon Do Championships in Italy and attained silver medal in patterns. I am going for my black belt in 2027 and aiming to formally teach thereafter. I have also trained with Guro Dan Inosanto, who famously trained with Bruce Lee, in Jeet Kune Do. Aside from martial arts, I am married and have a daughter who is also training in Tae Kwon Do. I work in the pharmaceutical industry.

Teaching Experience:
Tutoring of children and adults in Tae Kwon Do classes within East Dunbartonshire area. Padwork that builds power, fitness, and an understanding of what works for that individual.

Tutoring Approach:
What does the student (and/or parents) want from their martial arts journey? Once we know the baseline, we construct a training plan that will build fitness, confidence, real-world awareness and equip the student with practical and simple techniques that can be used if required. As Bruce Lee says, be water my friend. Use what works, dispatch what doesn't.

I'm a Russell Group education student at the University of Manchester, working toward PGCE with QTS. I've completed 240+ hours of TEFL/TESOL training and have a strong academic background in, English, Web Design, etc. I'm patient, reliable, and passionate about helping students build confidence.

Teaching Experience:
I've tutored GCSE and A-Level students informally, helping them improve grades through structured practice and clear explanations. My TEFL/TESOL training gave me tools to break down complex ideas and adapt to different learning styles. I'm comfortable teaching ages 11-18 across core subjects.

Every student learns differently. I start by identifying gaps, then build from fundamentals with clear examples and lots of practice. I encourage questions and make sessions interactive, no lecturing. My goal is to make students feel confident enough to tackle problems independently.
