Personal Description:
I have studied martial arts for over 35 years. I represented Scotland most recently at the European Tae Kwon Do Championships in Italy and attained silver medal in patterns. I am going for my black belt in 2027 and aiming to formally teach thereafter. I have also trained with Guro Dan Inosanto, who famously trained with Bruce Lee, in Jeet Kune Do. Aside from martial arts, I am married and have a daughter who is also training in Tae Kwon Do. I work in the pharmaceutical industry.
Teaching Experience:
Tutoring of children and adults in Tae Kwon Do classes within East Dunbartonshire area. Padwork that builds power, fitness, and an understanding of what works for that individual.
Tutoring Approach:
What does the student (and/or parents) want from their martial arts journey? Once we know the baseline, we construct a training plan that will build fitness, confidence, real-world awareness and equip the student with practical and simple techniques that can be used if required. As Bruce Lee says, be water my friend. Use what works, dispatch what doesn't.
