Hello, I am a lecturer, writer and tutor based in Bristol. I enjoy working with students from many backgrounds and countries.

I currently work part-time in two Universities, and have been teaching for nearly ten years. I can help you revise for exams, with assignments and dissertations.

Teaching Experience:
Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.

I teach journalism, business and employability. Mostly tutees I meet want help with specific things such as revising for exams or completing a difficult assignment. Often it is a case of working together to help improve your grades and reach deadlines.

I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and Qatar. I enjoy meeting new people and am keen to make sure that you get what you want from tutoring.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in CPLHE (Certificate in Professional Learning and Higher Education).

Tutoring Approach:
Through this site I have worked with students to complete assignments, dissertation proposals, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.

I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a little bit at a time, and save yourself money.

I supported a young student who was studying for BA Business Accounting at the university by tutoring her in the Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Analysis and Corporate Finance subjects. As a result, she achieved a 2:1 Grade. It is pertinent to note that the young student did not have any prior knowledge in Accounting. She took A Level Drama, but changed to do Accounting at the university, which makes her achievement much more remarkable.

In my current role as an Accounts Lecturer, I have adopted a methodical approach to my teaching. The preparation and use of scheme of work, session planning, syllabuses, timetable, lesson notes and handouts helps me in presenting my lessons in an organised and logical manner, and ensuring that the syllabuses are fully covered. I am confident and positive in my teaching and able to build confidence in the students themselves, which helps in achieving the learning objectives set for each lesson and thereby achieving the overall objectives of the course. I adopt a mixture of pedagogical and andragogical approach to my teaching. I have a Physics degree from Cambridge and still maintain an active and deep interest in the subject. Teaching Experience:
My introduction to tutoring came through successfully helping my sons through their A-levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. The experience inspired me to look into tutoring as an alternative occupation, and, for the last couple of years, I have been pleased to take on other students. I now work part-time in software development but love teaching and find tutoring very rewarding. Generally, most of my students are working their way through their A-levels but I can also help out up to University level, either with preparation for entrance exams (e.g PAT, NSAA, STEP), or with some of the topics encountered in Maths / Physics / Engineering courses. I also do occasional work at GCSE level in these subjects.

I like to treat students as individuals with differing needs. For some the key is to develop a solid understanding - subject knowledge tends to build on itself, and those who miss basic points in class can often find themselves slipping behind, feeling lost and not able to cope. For others, it involves digging deeper into the subject to perhaps make connections that weren`t at first apparent.

At all levels, I have found that guided questioning and encouraging students to think through their own difficulties is very effective. My CELTA level 5 qualification in teaching English as a foreign language included teaching students of different ages and abilities from around the world via zoom. I'm an experienced mathematician keen to share my love of the subject and teach good habits to see you through your mathematical journey. My background is in pure mathematics research, so I bring a depth of understanding to the subject, which allows me to put any level of study in a broader context.

Teaching Experience:
I have run and assisted in maths tutorials at multiple universities. In my previous role, as a postdoc, I ran weekly problem solving classes and drop in sessions. During my PhD I helped dozens of students as a teaching assistant in similar classes, building their understanding when they were stuck on difficult questions.
