My name is Leon and I provide tuition for maths and computer science to make these subjects easier to understand and fun to learn.

Using my experience in teaching and commercial application of these subjects, I am able to provide a thorough perspective that extends beyond the limitations of traditional classroom lessons. By presenting context for how maths and computer science concepts are used in the real world, I am able to make these subjects easier to understand with a complete explanation for how they are used to solve problems that everyone can relate to.

By avoiding the use of technical jargon and complicated notation, my lessons present concepts in a format that's easy to understand and practise. Each lesson is designed for you to achieve the following learning objectives:

- Write the concept as maths notation or programming code.
- Develop exam technique.

Using custom digital learning tools, you will be exposed to a hands on approach to learning the concepts behind maths and computing. My lessons begin with a visual presentation explaining the focus topic, followed by interactive exercises that help you to experiment, express and reinforce your understanding. With my support and collaboration, each exercise challenges you to describe and refine your thinking process to solve a puzzle using the skills taught in the presentation.

Once you are confident in your ability, the lesson progresses to applying your understanding of the concepts to creating and understanding written notation and code. This stage of the lesson prepares you with the ability to work with exam questions and other assessments that you are preparing for.

The most important component of effective tuition is your ability to practise between lessons. To help you gain the most benefit from my tuition, the digital learning exercises are made available to you as a practise tool between lessons. My learning tools also allow you to receive feedback on your practise throughout the week or during the next lesson.

Tutoring Approach:
Adult learners are often juggling several professional and personal commitments which makes finding the time to learn a struggle. Therefore, I make the process as fun and efficient as possible.

I have been speaking Spanish for over 30 years and have a passion for the language, for Spain and the Spanish culture.

I have visited Spain every year since I was eight and regularly visit friends across the country and members of my family who live near Valencia.  I spent a year of my degree studying, living and working in Northern Spain, at the University of Salamanca.  I regularly update and improve my own language and teaching skills and most recently attended an intensive week's teaching and learning course in Málaga . 

I have a passion for watching people develop as foreign language speakers and have been privileged to share my enthusiasm for the language and culture across a range of ages and abilities -  from 5 years old to 70+ covering all levels from tourist, conversational, GCSE, A-Level and International Baccalaureate.

I have a degree in both Spanish and Teaching and have been teaching the language in colleges, primary and secondary schools for almost 10 years.  I am a co-author for the new CGP GCSE Study Guides and workbooks. I am also an examiner for the International Baccalaureate Course.

My name is Ellie and I'm a History graduate. I have been teaching English as a second language in Suzhou, China for the last year. I am experienced in teaching particularly Chinese students, using IPA with a focus on oral speaking. I have a TEFL in China certificate and an International Child Protection Certificate. I also have HSK3 Mandarin Chinese

Teaching Experience:
I taught ESL at a school in Ghana for one month. For the past year I have been teaching a wide range of ages and levels in Suzhou, China. I completed 2 weeks on intensive teacher training in Beijing where I sat classroom-based and paper-based exams and received a TEFL in China certificate. Since then I have taught grade-8 students at two middle schools in Suzhou. I also tutored one-to-one and small groups of adults, teenagers and children. I performed demonstration lessons in classrooms with children I had never taught before and had numerous classroom assessments. In September I will be going to teach at Suzhou International Foreign Language School.

In my lessons I focus on oral speaking and fluency, using images, games and conversation activities. This can be adapted to each student depending on the level and needs. I am experienced in presentations and public speaking. I can also teach writing skills.

My previous students have described me as relatable, friendly, and passionate about unleashing their potential, and I am determined to meet the same description by individuals I teach here. Having moved to Sheffield very recently from Manchester, I am committed to replicating positive opinions and success in any new tutees who give me the opportunity to teach them. My students are always grateful for my help, especially my son who achieved an A* in his mathematics A level last year (as well as at GCSE), despite stating he felt little interest in the subject.

Hi, i'm Olie, I have studied drum kit grades and to university level at LCCM in London. I now teach mon - fri term time in schools in London and perform in bands and orchestras.

During holidays (half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer), I am available for online and in person lessons.

I have loads of experience teaching kids and young adults, as well as older students.

My lessons are fun and tailored to the individual. If you have a specific song/technique you would like to study, or are just looking for a great way to let of some steam, get in touch!

I use Rockschool, Trinity Classical & Jazz and Trinity Rock & Pop and have passed students in all syllabuses.

I also have my own library of song charts for beginner to advanced players and am welcome to suggestions from you of what songs you would like to learn!

Teaching Experience:
My teaching has reading and listening at it's heart. The best thing I have done since coming to London is open my ears to all the styles I didn't like, listen over and over, until they started to grow on me! Music is a cultural and historical lesson as well, it's interesting to see where the popular styles of today came from! Reading will just make you more employable as all the session, musical theatre and holiday camp drummers will tell you! I use software such as Noteflight which allows me to playback scores, making sight reading an easier and more enjoyable process, and meaning I can share scores with students via email. Each student is also given a video recording of what we studied in the lesson, which is a very valuable resource, something they can take away from each lesson, and makes remembering what we learned much easier!

Tutoring Approach:
I come from a family where music is extremely important. At school, my first band was a rock covers band where my brother played bass. We played regularly in pubs in Dorset, (you may have heard of the Teddy Rocks festival, we played in the very first festival and have played with my band Last Resort ever since). My first teacher was keen for me to learn how to read music, meaning I could play in school orchestras for musicals. I have 2 Grade 8 distinctions, one from Rockshool and one from Trinity Guildhall, I did the rockschool one first and then thought it best to add the Trinity one! The rock band i was in still plays, we have an EP online and continue to write original music.
Having just finished uni, I am keen to start my musical career ASAP, I want to stay in London, because it has the best music scene in Europe!!

I am a retired maths teacher who has been successfully tutoring maths for the past 15 years. I graduated from Imperial College, London, with a first class honours degree and, for most of my full time working career, I was a computer software engineer. However, at the end of my career, I was a lecturer at the Royal School of Signalling, teaching mainly Data Networks but also Mathematics. I am married with 4 children and (to date) 7 grandchildren with whom we seem to have taken on a new career as child minders.

Teaching Experience:
When teaching maths at the Royal School Of Signalling, I was told I was doing a great job, particularly at building the confidence of students who had previously struggled while at school. During my time there, I gained a CFET teaching qualification and, based on my success, started offering private tuition. I found that I enjoyed the one to one lessons and tayloring the sessions for each individual student. I have now been successfully tutoring maths for 15 years. I have taught GCSE and A level maths for all the exam boards (Edexecl, AQA, OCR), plus for some entrance exams and scholarship exams. As well as in person tutoring, I have been sucesssfully teaching online via Zoom; I have a drawing pad and document camera to help.

Tutoring Approach:
I understand Maths to be a progressive series of concepts; the simpler, earlier concepts must be fully mastered before the more advanced ones can be readily understood. For example, I have come across students, even at A level, whose understanding of basic algebra is incomplete and this is holding them back from learning the more advanced topics. I therefore start by ensuring that these basic skills have been mastered before moving on. This continues throughout the student's progress, whether we are at Foundation GCSE or A level. I ensure each topic is properly understood before moving on and always make time to revise and consolidate. Basically the student sets the pace. Throughout, I try to make our sessions relaxed and enjoyable so that they build the student's confidence.
