I'm a high-ranking martial arts instructor (6th degree black belt with nearly 40 years experience) and have been teaching now for around 30 years.

At my school in Dursley I have students of all ages from five years up to those in their sixties's. I teach courses and seminars to groups of all sizes. I've taught in schools, worked with police and youth groups etc. I often teach private lessons to individuals, both from my own school and those with no prior experience. Lessons can include conversation, grammar, reading, writing, travel Japanese, Japanese culture, education in Japan, study in Japan, and JLPT preparation. I can also use textbooks such as Genki, depending on the student's level and goals.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching style is friendly, patient and flexible. I believe learning a language should be enjoyable, practical and not stressful.

Lessons are adapted to each person's goals, whether they want to improve conversation skills, prepare for a trip to Japan, understand Japanese culture, study for JLPT, or build confidence from the very beginning.

I like to explain things clearly and give students plenty of opportunities to practise using Japanese naturally. I can use textbooks such as Genki, but I also include real-life examples, conversation practice and cultural topics depending on the student's interests.

Mistakes are an important part of learning, so my lessons are a relaxed space where students can build confidence step by step.

Face-to-face lessons are available locally, either at the student's home or at a suitable public place. Home-based lessons may also be possible by arrangement.

An additional travel fee may apply for lessons outside Lichfield.

Online lessons are available at £25 for 50 minutes.
