Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2011 with a degree in Experimental Psychology, and received a Masters in 2015. I have been tutoring for over 10 years, and run a company focused on inspiring students to reach their potential through study techniques based on neuroscientific evidence. This involves delivering interactive workshops for students in schools and colleges across London, as well as through ebooks and other online resources I have created!
I love teaching and thrive on the satisfaction of helping a student reach their goal; I welcome students of all abilities, motivation levels and confidence levels. What sets me apart from most is that as well as tutoring my students, I take the role of a mentor, to motivate, encourage and guide them towards success. My students also benefit from my knowledge of study skill techniques, which I integrate into my teaching to maximise students' memory retention.
For students applying for Oxbridge, I am able to provide valuable advice on interview techniques and personal statements, as well as provide contacts to graduates from Oxford University from a range of subjects. I am also able to tutor students for entrance exams e.g. 11+.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored extensively for 10 years at Primary, GCSE, A-level, and Degree level with excellent results. I have had students move up by up to 4 grade boundaries at both GCSE and A Level; for the 11+ I have helped students secure places (including scholarships) at excellent institutions such as Dulwich College. At degree level, my Psychology students have achieved 1sts and 2:1s. I am happy to provide references on request!
Tutoring Approach:
My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. My approach is thus very organised and tailored to the specific needs of the student, with small goals set per session alongside a long term goal to work towards. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching.
At GCSE and A Level, my aim is always to make sure that students are completely familiar with the subject specification and assessment objectives as this dictates exactly where they can pick up most marks. Completing as many past papers as possible is also a step in the right direction, alongside completing assignments set by myself. I always give very detailed feedback so that my students know exactly where they can improve, and how to apply it to their work going forward.
My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

Phd Chemistry graduate, Current A level Chemistry teacher and Edexcel examiner
I have always enjoyed science from an early age, this is what led me to study for a PhD in Chemistry. This enthusiasm for science definitely comes across in my teaching because I think it is the first step in engaging and enthusing pupils about science.
I am a calm and patient teacher and my belief is that there is no such thing as someone who can't do science. Only that the right approach has not been found yet.
Teaching Experience:
Over 10 years tutoring and teaching experience.
Tutoring Approach:
Generally, in the first session I aim to find out what exactly the pupil is struggling with. Subsequent sessions can then be tailored to fit these needs. This will involve lots of practice on the problem areas so that the pupil becomes comfortable with it.

Personal Description:
A seasoned Economist, having studied Math, Business and Economics formally for the best part of a decade.
I am also a financial adviser and have gained a substantial amount of experience in applying economic theory to financial markets. Such experience allows me to teach in a way that the subject is not simply abstract theory, as I am able to draw on real world examples whenever necessary.
Having also studied Business Studies and Maths to a high standard, both complementary subjects, I am able to offer context to my lessons whilst aiding with the technical aspects of Economics; Statistics and Econometrics.
Teaching Experience:
I`ve been helping students like you for 4 years and currently supporting the following students:

Personal Description:
A fixture in the London underground DJ community for over 10 years, I recently completed a BA in Music Production at BIMM London (1st degree honours awarded) whilst also holding a MLT in Teaching and Training.
I currently tutor at CM Sounds and Core Arts, both based in east London. Production projects have been varied and exciting with remixes and artist albums released on the original rave era label Kniteforce, and sync remix commissions for UMPG (Universal Music).
Past achievements include gaining a BTec level 3 in Music Technology, Designing and growing a successful underground music website (now officially an archive only), and co founding and running Graffiti Breakz (2007-2010), a successful club event which incorporated DJ's, Live Music and Live art.
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified teacher at City & Guilds level 3 (2015). I recently completed my BA Hons in Music production (2013/2016), I plan to take a year out to gain teaching experience before moving onto to a PGCE in Music Technology for the Lifelong Learning sector at UCL (2017/2018). I already Hold BTec level 3 Diploma in Music technology (2006).

No matter what your current skill level or preferred style of music, I will be able to help you improve and enhance your skills or GCSE/A-level/Degree course work.
I am also a native english speaker and have a keen interest in academic writing and the english language.
I am willing to travel to a students home, however if the tuition is music based, I would recommend coming to my home studio, which is fully equipped with industry standard equipment and software. This environment will help your skills and knowledge elevate rapidly to the next level. (equipment list found at the foot of this section).
Having studied at Degree level, I am well suited to help you with course work for GSCE/A-level and Degree. Your course work will benefit considerably from the insights gained from my guidance.

Personal Description:
I'm an Oxford graduate English specialist who helps students achieve top grades in their English GCSEs and A-Levels.
I know exactly what the mark scheme is looking for, and have helped multiple students exceed their expectations.
***"Thank you so much for all your tips and advice - I ended up getting 9s in both English GCSEs!" - STUDENT H***
I particularly enjoy working with ambitious, hardworking students who might not yet have understood how to excel. I was one of these students.
But everything changed when I got a private tutor at the age of 15. With their support, I scored 100% in my English GCSEs, 99% in English A Level, and went on to study English at St John's College, Oxford.
So, it's out of immense gratitude to my own teachers (and my younger self for persisting through the anxiety and disappointment) that I try and show my students that success is well within their reach.
***"Thank you for your help: it really helped me get the 9! It's still sinking in, I can't believe it" - STUDENT D***
***"Ankit is an amazing tutor. He boosted my son by 3 grades. I recommend Ankit to anyone who wants a tutor: Ankit really goes above and beyond to teach his students" - HAMID (Parent)***
Teaching Experience:
***"The results are here and I got a 9 in Literature and an 8 (2 marks off a 9) in Language. These were also my highest grades" - STUDENT E***
I've been an English tutor for nearly five years, following my education under award-winning professors, tutors, and teachers who shaped the foundation of everything I now teach.
Over the last 5 years, I've taught OCR, Cambridge, Edexcel and AQA English GCSE, and OCR and AQA English A Level.
Set texts that I've taught include:
- Macbeth
- A Christmas Carol
- Inspector Calls
- Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
- Lord of the Flies
- Power and Conflict Poetry
- Love and Relationships Poetry
- Romeo and Juliet
- Songs of Ourselves (Anthology)
- Never Let Me Go
- The War of the Worlds
- Pride and Prejudice
- The Woman in Black
- I'm the King of the Castle
- Antony and Cleopatra
- The Great Gatsby
- Othello
- Hamlet
- Richard II
- Paradise Lost
- Frankenstein
- The Bloody Chamber
- Skirrid Hill
- The Handmaid's Tale
- A Streetcar Named Desire
- Top Girls
- Romantic Poetry
- The Duchess of Malfi
- Of Mice and Men
However, my degree covered literature written from when English first became a language to the modern day. So simply let me know what you're studying and I'll be able to teach it.
***"I learnt more with you in 2 hours than I did in a whole year from my teachers" - STUDENT K***
Tutoring Approach:
***"I got an 8 in Literature (I never thought I would EVER get that in Year 10) and a 7 in Language. I'm even taking English for A Level! Sincerely, thank you for everything. I'm forever grateful!" - STUDENT A***
My lessons balance challenge with warmth. I teach through discussion, questioning, high-level ideas and regular homework.
***"I couldn't be happier with the progress my son had made under Ankit's guidance, which has helped him reach grade 9. What sets Ankit apart is his patience and encouragement, which has really boosted my son's confidence"*** - VIJI (Parent)
I break English down into clear systems: top-band writing templates, essay formulas, and exam strategies tailored to the student's board and mark scheme. Together, we build ready-to-use paragraphs and flexible arguments that adapt to almost any question with the goal of reducing uncertainty, building fluency and writing material the examiners want to reward.
***"Ankit helped my dyslexic son at both GCSE and A Level. His manner with students is warm and engaging, and he has a lovely sense of humour - all of which makes such a difference in 1-2-1 settings. I thoroughly recommend him - CLAIR (Parent) ***

Personal Description:
I am Head of Computing at a successful school/sixth form.
I have been teaching since 2011 and cover both GCSE(Edexcel) and A level(OCR) Computer Science. I have also been exam marking for OCR since 2018 and was graded as 'excellent' in the most recent exam series. I have also tutored over 50 students across a range of exam boards since I began doing so around 3 years ago.
Message me in order to check current availability (Evenings, weekends and school holidays)
Recent Computer Science GCSE Results:
2024, 35% of my students achieved a grade 9, 60% 9-7, 100% 9-4.
2023, 53% of my students achieved a grade 8 or 9, 73% 9-7, 100% 9-4.
2022, 48% of my students achieved a grade 8 or 9, 62% 9-7, 95% 9-4.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since the 2010/2011 academic year where I achieved my ICT PGCE. I completed my NQT year at a secondary school in Loughton teaching ICT to all year groups before an opportunity came up at my current school (Secondary and sixth form) in 2012.
There I have been incharge of running Edexcel GCSE computer science since it began in 2013 while also teaching OCR A level computer science since I started at the school. Previously I have also taught both GCSE and A level ICT and functional skills ICT although both no longer exist.
As mentioned above I have also been an exam marker on the OCR exam board since 2018, in the last exam series (2022) I was assessed as marking to a 'high standard.'
It is also worth noting that offering private tuition has given me experience with a wide range of exam board and students with different needs and aims. As such I am confident in being able to meet the requirements of most potential students at either GCSE or A level standard.
Tutoring Approach:
Supportive and direct. Plenty of practice questions. Homework available on request. After each lesson I send a copy of the lesson notes alongside feedback for the lesson usually within 24hours. I am also able to mark any exam practice that you do and look over personal statements for my subject.
Lessons are delivered via Zoom.
Names have been changed but below are some recent comments by parents of students I teach privately:
-Rachel said you are an excellent teacher: thorough, efficient and explaining very clearly.
-James asked me to make sure to tell you: Thank you for your patience and guidance. James likes your class very much.
-Sam got a 5 in computer science we are so pleased. Wish we had found you sooner I think it would have made an even bigger difference
-I want to share with you , Alex's result for his end of year computer test, 41 out of 50. This is a huge improvement, and shows the impact of your support. We are over the moon with his progress, and want to sincerely congratulate yourself too on what you are doing with Alex. You are really driving his passion and enthusiasm for Computer Science. We cannot thank you enough.

Personal Description:
I am a PhD candidate at Cardiff University, where I research contemporary forms of subtitling. I have a Master's Degree in Translation Studies - for which I received a high Distinction and Best Postgraduate Dissertation - and a Bachelor's Degree in French and Spanish - for which I was awarded First-class Honours and an Excellence Scholarship. I have also been awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of my teaching contributions at Cardiff University, where I have taught undergraduate French and Spanish language, history, and culture for four years.
I have lived in both Toulouse, France and Barcelona, Spain, where I was able to immerse myself fully in French, Spanish, and Catalan language and culture respectively. My passion for languages has very much informed my choice of career so far, both academic and professional.
I know from first-hand experience that learning a language has the most profound impact, giving the learner an insight and a pathway into entirely new cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. This is an experience that I have been fortunate to have for myself, and therefore wish to help others to discover for themselves.
Aside from work, I am a keen athlete and photographer. I spend most of my free time swimming, doing sport, or adventuring with my film camera in hand.
Teaching Experience:
I have amassed a broad range of teaching and coaching experiences in recent years. These include, most recently, preparing and delivering seminars on Spanish and French language, translation, and culture to undergraduate students at Cardiff University. This has entailed gauging and adapting to the varied abilities of an entire cohort, producing learning materials that will guide and challenge different students appropriately, and providing bespoke, individual feedback to ensure each student's personal development. I am currently performing this teaching role face-to-face, but had until recently done so online due to the pandemic. As such, I feel comfortable engaging with my students in either setting.
I am also employed as a mentor and tutor for students enrolled in an online translation course on the Futurelearn platform. This course attracts thousands of students from around the world, and so gives me the opportunity to teach and to facilitate discussions between individuals with a fascinating range of perspectives, experiences, and abilities. Again, this role requires me to find a balance between delivering a general syllabus at the right pace so that every student is challenged and fulfilled, and, simultaneously, taking the time to adapt and engage with people on a personal, one-to-one basis. Building on this, I have also tutored talented young research students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds through the internationally acclaimed Lumiere Scholarship Programme.
I am a Fellow of Advance HE (formally the Higher Education Academy), a not-for-profit organisation which trains and awards educators in contemporary teaching methods and theories, and which is universally reputed across the higher education sector. The portfolios that I have produced and the training that I have completed for these awards has honed my investment in centring EDI in my teaching practices; my primary focal points have been accessibility, student transitions, and digital literacy.
Thanks to my love of sports from a young age, I have over a decade of coaching experience, ranging from football and rugby to ultimate frisbee. While not directly related to academic learning, I have always found a valuable crossover in the dynamic between player and coach and that between student and teacher. Both involve accepting (and, I believe, finding the joy in) the responsibility you have for guiding and shaping someone else's growth. This is an aspect of teaching and coaching that I have always found hugely fulfilling and rewarding.
In my time at university, I have occupied a number of wellbeing- and support-related roles. I believe that a focus on mental and physical health is essential in any educational setting.
Tutoring Approach:
As I have alluded to, I believe in the value of engaging with students on an individual level. By adapting different teaching methods and elements of the relevant content according to the learning style and existing knowledge of the student in question, you can always find the best approach to the subject matter for them personally. In my experience, this leads to a fairly free and engaging learning environment, while also maintaining a necessary level of proximity to the syllabus.
Most importantly, though, this approach means that the student is more likely to genuinely enjoy their learning. In education as in any area of life, the best results come when you love what you do.

Personal Description:
I am a television producer who is currently looking to build upon the work I have previously done in education. I enjoyed school and learning, but I realise that I was fortunate enough to experience an ideal set of circumstances (including good teaching) and that many people find studying difficult, challenging and/or unenjoyable.
I really love working with people to plug the gaps in their knowledge and/or formal education, and I take a person-centred approach to finding what's right for each particular individual. I believe that this style allows people to feel empowered, makes things "click" in a way that is natural to the individual, and ultimately allows that person to walk away with a feeling of satisfaction and confidence in their abilities.
As a TV producer, I have worked around the world with a multitude of different types of people, and I pride myself on the ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life. I am half Spanish, so have always had a knowledge of and been surrounded by the language. I am currently working on perfecting my fluency, so am working through the formal qualifications this year, currently operating at Pre-Advanced (B2). At this level, I am more than equipped to tutor in Spanish up to A Level.
Teaching Experience:
I trained in dance from the age of 3, and when I was about 13/14, started helping with the teaching of the younger children at the school. This was where I discovered my passion for helping others to learn. I took a huge amount of pleasure in helping people figure out a way to finally crack something they'd been finding difficult.
When I then went to uni, I spent my spare time working at Salford Young People's University to lead marketing and radio production workshops, amongst others. Upon leaving education, whilst trying to start my career as a television producer, I worked part time in a local high school as an administrative assistant, exam invigilator and cover support officer, covering classes when teachers were absent. Having obtained majority A grades at school myself, I found a great deal of joy working across all national curriculum subjects to help students complete their work and understand things that they were finding tricky.
Over the last decade, I have spent a great deal of time outside of my day job leading workshops in schools, universities and other teaching organisations to inform, educate and empower young people to pursue a career in television. I have also mentored upwards of 80 individuals, each time taking a person-centred approach to figure out what is right for that particular person. My mentees describe me as someone who is gentle, patient, knowledgeable and inspires confidence. There are testimonials from some of my former mentees. I understand the importance of finding the right tutor, and am happy to supply a full CV prior to commencing any tutoring.
Tutoring Approach:
I love working with people to plug the gaps in their knowledge and/or formal education, and I take a person-centred approach to finding what's right for each particular individual, i.e. I do not follow a set formula with every person. I believe that this style allows people to feel empowered, makes things "click" in a way that is natural to the individual, and ultimately allows that person to walk away with a feeling of satisfaction and confidence in their abilities.
Ideally, I'd have students bring homework they are struggling to complete so that we can work through it together, but if that is not an option, I am very happy to discuss the individual needs and then find appropriate resources. I am happy to work either online or in person.
Testimonial from Spanish tutee:
"I absolutely loved my Spanish lessons with Melody. She prepared bespoke pages for me which we worked through, and gave me little tips and tricks to remember things that helped to improve my Spanish tremendously. She also provided me with extra activities (like watching specific music videos on YouTube) to do outside lessons that further improved my Spanish."
