Matthew J - Weybridge tutor
Information About Matthew J:
Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Matthew J. I'm a film tutor, commissioned screenwriter/producer and published author. For the last two decades, I have tutored Film Studies workshops at universities, colleges, and schools, and specialized in one-to-one personal tutoring either in person or online. It has been for students of all ages. I have taught Practical Filmmaking, Film Theory, and Creative Writing. I have done this across all education levels (MA, Degree, A Level, A/S, and GCSE). I have also offered my film and tv industry experience to anyone looking to develop their own creative ideas in their spare time.
For students looking to complete a Film Studies qualification, to those wanting to work in the industry, or those who wish to develop ideas in their leisure, I can tailor one-to-one lessons towards your course syllabus or each individual students' desired content. I've continued to mentor students afterwards to help achieve their goals.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions you'd like to ask before committing to a lesson. I'm always happy to help and advise in any way I can to make sure each student is getting the correct lesson they need.
In the industry I've had feature screenplays produced and distributed worldwide, alongside festival award nominations in LA and London. As an author, I have four fiction books published. Most recently a book on film history called Noir, Nihilism, and Crime: The Forgotten Films 1970-1989. You can find a list of my film credits on imdb.

Tutoring Approach:
Both the one-to-one online or in person tutoring I offer and/or group workshops, have been structured for students interested in learning many aspects of film courses including Film Making, Film Theory and Writing. I am happy to advise students wanting to work in the entertainment industry for future careers, or those who are thinking about studying film or another creative degree at university. I also tutor adults of any age who wish to develop creative ideas in their leisure time, be it a script, a play, or a book.
I tutor towards students' creative ideals and the educational institutions course syllabus. I've continued to mentor students afterwards if they so desired, to help them to achieve their goals. The key aspect when tutoring from my point of view is communication and collaboration. It requires hard work, dedication and commitment from a tutor. My advice to all students is something my beautiful mum used to tell me 'Believe in yourself. Through dedication and hard work, you can achieve anything'.
