Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Matthew J Gunn. I'm a film tutor and writer. For the last two decades, I have tutored film workshops at universities, colleges, schools and also specialized in one to one personal tutoring either in person or online. It has been for students of all ages. I have taught Practical Filmmaking, Creative Writing and Film Theory. I have done this across all education levels (MA, Degree, A Level, A/S, GCSE) and also offered my experience to anyone looking to develop their own creative ideas in their spare time.
For students looking to complete a course, to those wanting to work in the industry, or, those who wish to develop ideas in their leisure, I can tailor one to one lessons towards your course syllabus or each individual students' desired content. I've continued to mentor students working with them to help achieve their goals.
In the entertainment industry as a writer I've had feature screenplays produced and distributed, alongside festival writing award nominations. As an author, I have four fiction books published. Most recently I released a book on film history called Noir, Nihilism, and Crime: The Forgotten Films 1970-1989.

Teaching Experience:
I started tutoring two decades ago at colleges when I was asked to be a guest speaker at Queen Marys College. I enjoyed it so much that I was soon running film and writing workshop lessons at the college over a term. I found helping guide and advise students in both film theory and practical film making extremely worthwhile. I then started running workshops at Universities, Colleges and Schools, and, began tutoring students one to one both in person and online via websites like UK Tutors.

Tutoring Approach:
The workshops, courses, and one to one personal tutoring I've run over the last twenty years have been structured for students interested in learning many aspects of film courses including: Writing, Filmmaking and Film Theory. I can tutor and advise students wanting to work in the entertainment industry for future careers, or, students wishing to complete a qualification. I also tutor adults of all ages who wish to develop ideas in their leisure time.
I tutor towards students' creative ideals and the educational institutions course syllabus. I've continued to mentor students afterwards if they so desired, to help them to achieve their goals. The key aspect when tutoring from my point of view is communication and collaboration. It requires hard work, dedication and commitment from a tutor. Believe in yourself. Through dedication and hard work, you can achieve anything.
