Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

I attended both a state school and a top boarding school and am comfortable to cover topics on and off the standard syllabus.

I am a very fun, friendly person with a wide range of activities and hobbies from inline skating to singing and playing the violin.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored A-level maths privately for a few years, and also spent several weeks as a teaching assistant in a secondary school during my undergraduate degree as part of the Student Associates Scheme. Many of my contemporaries from university are science and mathematics teachers across England and overseas, and I periodically discuss teaching methods and curriculum changes with them.

During my PhD, I led undergraduate tutorials and problems classes in the Mathematics and several Engineering departments, teaching undergraduates from 1st year to 4th year. The courses include Mathematical Methods, Matlab, Fluid Mechanics, PDEs, Modelling in Biology, Heat and Mass Transfer. I also carried out 1-1 tuition for undergraduates at departmental request. I have supervised a number of undergraduate and masters research projects and summer students.

Tutoring Approach:
I am a very approachable person and I prefer interactive sessions, although I can tailor the tuition style to the individual.

A first meeting would involve an informal chat for the student and I to get more familiar with his/her needs and style of working, and everything follows from there.

I am a successful local tutor and teacher with an MA in Education from Oxford Brookes University (2016), a Postgraduate Diploma in English and Language in Education from the University of Reading (2012). I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary - English) from Oxford Brookes University (2007) and a BA Hons in English Literature (2006) as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Children's Literature (2024). I am passionate about my subject and enthusiastic about improving both my pedagogical and subject knowledge. With A Level clients, I often re-read the key exam texts and exam specifications in order to deliver a successful tutorial. For GCSE, I am confident with multiple exam boards but, again, I take a sincere interest in changes to qualifications and specifications. I have recently led a team of ten teachers in our delivery of the GCSE English qualification through WJEC. The rapport with the parent is as just as important as the tutee. In order to make a success of the tuition, it's paramount to have a good professional relationship with both. I use feedback from the tutee's parent (via a school report) and informal feedback from the tutee to create an Individual Tuition Plan which includes setting three clear targets. Depending on the key stage and ability of the tutee, this can range anything from parenthetic comma use to translating Chaucerian poetry!

Teaching Experience:
I have taught science to GCSE level and A level biology for over ten years in secondary schools. Since relocating to Stroud, I have tutored students in A level biology for the past nine years. I have taught a number of students via on-line lessons for the last three years. I am also an examiner for OCR A level biology. The experience of marking A level papers has enabled me to help my students effectively prepare for exams.

Tutoring Approach:
The style of tutoring needed by individual students will vary. It may start with ensuring understanding of the key concepts in biology at an appropriate level. The jump to A level from GCSE is quite considerable and even the brightest students can struggle initially. Another essential skill needed is the ability to pull together biological content taught in different parts of the syllabus. As exam time approaches, a student has to apply their knowledge and understanding to real exam questions. Practice of exam technique is often a large part of a tutorial session in the run up to A level exams. This is an even more important aspect of my tutoring approach since the A level course recently changed to being examined solely at the end of two years. Using the insights I have learnt from being an examiner I am able to give feedback on individual questions to enable a student to improve their answers.

I am a qualified Italian teacher, with 5 years or experience. I also hold a Bachelor`s Degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation and a Master`s Degree in Literary Translation.
I immediately decided to start to teach Italian, and moved to London to qualify as a teacher. I obtained the CTLA (Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) at the Italian Cultural Institute of London, and have been teaching ever since.
I decided to open a website in 2018, to create a platform with online courses for students located anywhere, and with a blog to write about the "hows" and "whats" or share my interactive activities.

Hi, I am a 2nd year medical student at the University of Manchester. I have a range of interests, of course including sciences and medicine, but also in music and history. I achieved top A level and GCSE results, and am passionate about passing my learning onto others. I am looking for students aged 11+ and have evening and weekend availability.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience leading groups of a range of ages in a school environment as well as working with individuals to help them achieve their goals and further their skills in their area of interest. I have been tutoring for two years now, having started in my gap year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed helping pupils significantly increase their grades. My most recent GCSE students increased their science grades from 4s to 8s in around a year of tutoring. I also volunteer at a secondary school orchestra, working with players who are struggling, which often involves explaining concepts and recommending the most efficient practice methods, in a very similar way to when helping in an academic situation.

I'm a Medical Student at Anglia Ruskin University, I've worked hard to get to the stage I am.
During GCSEs my strongest subjects were Maths and Science. During A levels my strongest my subjects were Maths and Chemistry. I believe I've always found those subjects interesting and simple to understand because of my approach to learning the more complex topics. And this is something I'd like to share as I understand how confusing and difficult it can for students to wrap their head around a subject when there are many other subjects to study for. Through tutoring I'd like to teach students simple approaches to difficult topics !

I have been a cricket coach for juniors ages 4-16 for 4 years.
Through medical school I've been part of societies which involves learning and teaching different complex topics. During all my stages of studying from GCSES and A levels to Medical School I have always studied in groups, learning from and teaching my friends.

Good tutoring doesn't require a specific approach, it depends on the learning pattern of the student, I've always studied in groups I understand some students may pick up certain topics through different explanations and examples to another student. I am 34 year old female, looking to support learners with their education. Teaching has always been my passion since I was a little girl, and this has continued to grow as I have gotten older. I was diagnosed as dyslexia went I joined university, and this has yet to stop me from being successful. The fact that I struggled my way through school, has meant that I am particularly keen in supporting students who do not always find things easy, I believe I am a good role model to students with needs, and am proof that barriers can be overcome. The main thing when it comes to tutoring is finding a way that matches how the student learns. It it's important for the student to feel comfortable with myself and they are not afraid to ask for help when they need it.

I love travelling, I enjoy honing my Spanish skills in Mexico, Central America, and South America. I am always up for sharing travel stories! I am also passionate about football, Chelsea are my team (controversial, I know!), and music, I love to discover new artists from around the world.
