I was made redundant from my role on the Crime and Disorder Partnership where I was challenged to proactively tackle crime in the area.
I then decided to persue my career as a private tutor and teacher, having done it as a hobby for 3 years and found I have a passion for this field, this is now my sixth year of tutoring and have had lots of successes and am proud of all my tutees; past and present.
I can sometimes travel to you if required but prefer if I can tutor from my home.

I am a frank person, have an straightforward approach to everything in life and like people to behave the same way with me (which always does not happen). While I have never tutored for money, I have an extensive tutoring experience. I volunteered to teach illiterate students English as a part of a volunteering program from my high school in India and have been a part of that program for the past two years. I feel that children learn best in a stress free environment. If they feel it is fun and challenging, they will be more willing to learn than if they feel it to be an obligation. English is an easy subject and children enjoy learning it, once they realize the joys that English has to offer. History can be challenging due to the vast amounts one has to learn by heart but steady habit of writing down answers to questions helps more than reading the material ten times. Other than that, History is a vastly interesting subject which helps us understand the workings of the present society and of course, knowledge about our ancestors. Geography is relatively straightforward subject. A lot of practice and a dedicated perusal of it should be enough to get good scores. While it can be relatively dry, it can be made interesting with pictures and videos.I focus on exam technique, past papers as well as text work (English Lit.)

I am a certified teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language. In May 2012 I finished the Master de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato, FP y Enseñanza de Idiomas in Spain, a program similar to a PGCE. I am also working on the dissertation on another master program that will qualify me as a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language. I enjoy Qualified Teaching Status since November 2012 and I am familiar with the English curriculum and the programme of study for KS3-4 in all aspects related to teaching Spanish as a MFL. I have taught Spanish to people of all ages and nationalities and also have classroom experience as a Chemistry Teacher (ages 15-16 and 17-18).

In my classes, I like to tap into that part of each of my students that is exited about learning a new language, because that motivation will lead them to succeed in my class.

As a language teacher I firmly believe that in order for the students to succeed, two things must be present in the classroom environment: trust and respect. I have a lot of experience as a language student, Spanish is my native tongue and I have learned English, German and a bit of French and I have struggled with that first phrase I wanted to say out loud thinking that I was going to make a mistake or that it was going to sound funny. I understand that not everyone learns a language at the same rate and speaking in a foreign language takes courage and self-confidence. Courage and self-confidence are supported by an environment of trust and respect. In my classroom there are always ground rules: we are all here to learn, we learn from each other and we must respect each other.

The other very important aspect for me is making sure that the level of proficiency is correctly assessed. If the classes are too challenging or too basic, a negative environment not conducive to learning is created. Even if proper evaluation is made before the groups are formed, there will always be differences inside the classroom. I, as a teacher, try to be as aware as possible of this factor and strive to use that for the good of the group. Pairing a strong student with someone not as strong usually helps. Another important issue that I try to be as aware as possible is preventing the strong students from taking over the exercises and leaving behind other students that, because of either lack of confidence or not being at the same level, stop themselves from actively participating in class. In my classes, I make sure that everyone is heard and that I can evaluate progress of all my students.

Hi. My name is Saif and I presently work as the Assistant Head of Science responsible for Chemistry at a school in London. I teach sciences at KS3, KS4 and deliver the 'A' Level Chemistry curriculum at KS5. I read Medicinal Chemistry at University College London and completed a PGCE in Science upon graduation. I studied Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics at 'A' Level and achieved very strong grades in all four subjects.

I'm a local musician playing piano and violin to a high level and want to continue to pass on my experience of playing an instrument to as many people as possible of all ages. There is no buzz like performing a piece of music in front of an audience however small and seeing how much they appreciate it at the end. This doesn't need to be a concert type performance, it can simply be for pleasure in front of family and friends.

I formerly taught English as a Foreign Language, and have a Diploma in this area of teaching (DELTA), so can offer EFL to adults or children. This includes English conversation, pronunciation and help with proof-reading.
