From an early age I have been extremely enthusiastic about mathematics and since leaving education, and before I chose to pursue a career in education, I have been fascinated by learning and problem solving. I am currently a teacher in a new school in Hackney, East London. The college is for 14-18 year olds so I specialise in GCSE and A-Level maths teaching. We cater for a range of different backgrounds and abilities which requires the staff to have a wide ranging skill-set. I have previously taught for 5 full years, including 2 years at a 4-18 international school, and have 3 years teaching experience in the UK. My previous school was an independent international school. In all my years as a teacher I have taught GCSE classes and have come to have a sound knowledge of both AQA and Edexcel curriculums. Tutoring Approach:
I believe the key to learning is presenting a new topic in a way that the learner can engage with best. I would aim to break a complex problem down into smaller more manageable parts. Maths is a subject where each new concept is just a collection of previously learnt skills or techniques used in a specific way. I would visit the house of the tutee under the supervision of a parent. Also, if acceptable, I would try to involve a parent in the tuition process so that they can work with the tutee at a later date, if they thought it would help. I am happy to set additional work to be finished between tuition sessions, if the parent and tutee consent to this. I aim to not only help the tutee in acquiring the grade they want but also to improve their confidence in maths and help inspire them to enjoy the subject more.

Teaching Experience:
In my two gap years I was a gap student at Bedales Schools for a term and then was invited back to cover a member of music staff. Responsibilities included teaching 8-13 year old mixed pupils classroom music as well as supervising music practices. Tutoring Approach:
I have a very laid-back attitude to teaching and will teach you in similar ways that I have been taught. My name is Valentinos. I am a native Greek speaker and professional teacher of the Greek language. I am passionate about teaching and the use of the new technologies in education.
I studied at the University of Athens Classical Philology (this include Modern and Ancient Greek language) and teaching approaches and theories to the subject. I graduated in 2011 and I came to Liverpool for my masters at the University of Liverpool. I studied Ancient History and at the same time, I started an online course from the center of Hellenic studies in Athens which focuses on the teaching of Greek as a foreign language.

I have been an online Greek tutor since 2014. I've been teaching one-to-one Skype lessons and making video lessons for my students so as to explain different aspects of the Greek language. I am a Modern Foreign Languages teacher and am incredibly diligent, organised and devoted to promoting a love of language learning as well as a desire to ensure GCSE students achieve their very best in exams.
As a teacher and AQA examiner, I have access to past papers as well as having built up a wide range of teaching resources with which to teach. I am associated with a school wherein Edexcel and AQA are the examining body for Modern Foreign Languages although this does not hinder me as a prospective tutor for those studying under WJEC or alternative examining bodies. I'm currently working in finance for Molson Coors, having previously worked in external audit for PwC for 4 years where I obtained my ACA qualification.
Prior to this I was a student studying Economics at the University of Birmingham, where I achieved a first level BSc. I am interested in sharing some of the things I have learnt over my years in education with others, which is why I'm keen to tutor. I have previously mentored students throughout secondary school and really enjoyed it. Apart from university my other interests include; playing netball and renovating my house.

I have previously mentored students through their GCSEs and Alevels at secondary school and really enjoyed it. I am the coach of a netball team so this also gives me skills which help to make me a better tutor such as patience, organisation and effective communication skills.

A fixture in the London underground DJ community for over 10 years, I recently completed a BA in Music Production at BIMM London (1st degree honours awarded) whilst also holding a MLT in Teaching and Training.

I currently tutor at CM Sounds and Core Arts, both based in east London. Production projects have been varied and exciting with remixes and artist albums released on the original rave era label Kniteforce, and sync remix commissions for UMPG (Universal Music).

My classes will focus on drawing and painting, and the use of sketchbooks that will provide you with the fundamentals of a portfolio for application to college or art school. I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2000 and have taught there as well as at other colleges, schools and museums. The sketchbook should be a journal of your ideas and thoughts. It's not something for finished works. It's your space to experiment, to discover, but also to fail and make mistakes.
