I have many years of tutoring experience and I have a friendly approach to teaching. I make my lessons enjoyable and fun whilst maintaining very high standards of teaching.

Some of the children I have tutored have had a very basic command of Urdu whilst others I've tutored were studying for their A-Levels. Others I have tutored required Urdu for their job purposes or for pleasure.

Tutoring Approach:
I understand everyone is different and will learn in different ways. Therefore, I will tailor my lessons to each individual. Primarily, I will focus on ensuring the foundation blocks are in place before advancing to more sophisticated learning.

Majority of the times I will set my students homework. I believe this is the best way to monitor the progress. Homework exercises will vary depending on individual capability but can include comprehension exercises (for advanced learners) to practicing reading/writing simple Urdu sentences (for basic learners).

As most lessons are tailored, it's difficult to outline exact work plan but before each lesson clear goals will be set to give the students achievable targets.

I am 54 years old and I have been a self employed tutor for over five years. I live in Nelson and always travel to the homes of my students. I spend the first few lessons establishing specific areas that need attention within the subject/s I am teaching. I am very well resourced with both text books and worksheets specifically designed for each student. I am well prepared for the new GCSE Maths syllabus and provide text books for pupils taking the 11+. I set homework by negotiation, and try to mark it before the next lesson, distance and time constraints allowing. Where possible I try to liaise with my student's teachers in school, but this can prove difficult.

I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature, and then from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with a BA in acting, where I was the recipient of the Noel Coward Scholarship from 2008-2011. My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual's needs; firstly finding ways of fully explaining a concept, then cementing them with useful and memorable material to build students' confidence. My main objective would be to aid the student in understanding not only the specifics of the work but also the broader aspects of it, which I believe provides a truer grounding in - and enjoyment of - a subject. - In spring 2019 I attended a 3 month international advanced training course on the Lecoq pedagogy of movement theatre led by master Giovanni Fusetti in Padua, Italy, which incredibly deepened and refined my understanding of the student/teacher relation and enormously widened the ways I can adapt and carry out a class according to the personality and the needs/goals of the students. 430h of training.

- Since I moved to London I have taught Italian to many people, students, casual learners, people seeking accents reductions....from an English couple who have travelled to Italy many times, are really fond of the culture but have never got down to learning the language, to a Japanese woman who lives in the City and has working relationships with Italy. - In 2008 I worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten in Reykjavk for 8 months. This kindergarten had a special program of integration between kids with special needs (especially hearing impaired ones) and kids with no special requirements, which showed to be very successful. Besides assisting the teachers in taking care of the children daily, I was responsible of having a short weekly session to introduce children to English as a foreign language through playing and singing, which turned out to be very appreciated and great fun.

Teaching Experience:
2016-2018: Assisted postgraduate and undergraduate labs and tutorials at Cardiff University, School of computer Science & Informatics. Modules included: Python & Java programming, Web Applications, Computer Architecture, Distributed and Cloud Computing, Data Visualisation with Python, Year 2 Group project Supervision.

2016-2022: Private tutor. I have successfully helped a range of students throughout the years. I have taught and mentored students from GCSE, AS and A-level all the way to university level. I have a good proven track record of helping students with, including the Python programming language.

2021 - 2022: Lecturer at Cardiff University.

Tutoring Approach:
I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the individual. I understand that every student has a unique way of learning. An initial meeting establishes the student's needs and the direction tuition should take. Then we begin working on a programme of study which focuses on filling gaps in knowledge and addressing any areas of weakness.

A key element in my teaching is that I do not only help the student understand the necessary material, but I teach them how to think. This is an essential skill in the Computer Science field. During the sessions I also try to inspire the students and make them passionate about computing.
