My background is in Mathematics and Education. I studied BSc Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University and then graduated with BA Education with a specialism in Numeracy at University of Stirling, which has led me into tutoring mathematics.

I have been tutoring mathematics for +10 years, supporting primary and secondary students of all ages, both in-person and online across many parts of Glasgow such as the East Dunbartonshire Area: Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Milngavie and the Robroyston. Additionally, I have also tutored in areas outside of the East Dunbartonshire Area such as many parts of North Lanarkshire and Glasgow City Council, tutoring pupils all over different parts of Glasgow. I can tutor at any location. I have tutored at pupil's homes, my own and even online, if distance is an issue. I adopt a direct, systematic, step-by-step teaching approach, where lessons are structured in a way that makes maths easy to understand. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. After 3 years of training, I become an instructor leading numerous groups for children and adults teaching Karate and Self-Defence. Over the years my interest was directed as well onto other Martial Arts, Aikido, Judo, Ju-Jutsu, Shaolin Chi-Na, Jeet Kune Do, moreover I was practicing with Nunchaku, Bo, Tonfa, and Japanese Fencing Kendo. In 2003 I Have erected Bushido School in Lublin teaching Karate KyokushinKan, Free Running, and as a first person in this region Kendo. In 2006 I moved to Edinburg Scotland where In 2010 reached for 3rd Dan in Karate KyokushinKan and become Branch Representative in Scotland. During that time I took part in numerous Tournaments both regional and international competing in Kata (forms) and Kumite (free fight) Achieving 2nd Place In International Tournament Oyama Cup Gdansk 2003.
I was involved in organizing Self Defence seminars with international recognized specialist Rory Miller in Edinburgh and Coordinating his tour in the UK.

Personal Description:
I am extremely proud of my students results in the first year of the new 9-1 GCSE's. All 14 final year students passed their maths exam at a grade 4 or above. One of my pupils who was in set two at a local school achieved the highest possible grade (9) only 3000 of these grades were given nationally. Four of my students were bottom set of next to bottom set and all passed. Two being the only pupils in their class to pass the GCSE.

I am a fully qualified experienced maths teacher with a BSc in Mathematics. I have experience in intervention and one to one tutoring within a high school setting, delivering the intervention sessions in one high school and taking the responsibility of intervention coordinator in another. I have also prepared small groups of pupils for Further/Additional Maths at GCSE Level. I have been very successful in improving under achieving students to achieve their target grade both as a tutor and teacher. For example I took over a GCSE class which was a bottom set who I started teaching at the start of year 11. At that point the highest grade in the class was a grade F. By the end of the year everyone improved significantly and several gained a grade C. As a father I know how important our children achieving their best is to all parents.

Teaching Experience:
During my teaching career I have taught in 4 different high schools including schools with a sixth form. My first post was in a Lancashire High school where I was responsible for the intervention in Mathematics which involves helping small groups of pupils who are below target in Mathematics. My last GCSE group all achieved grade A*-C. (set 2 of 6)

My next post was in a Sefton High School and sixth form where I was responsible for organising and running intervention. My GCSE group (set 5/bottom set) all achieved at least three levels of progress from their starting point and 3 pupils achieved a grade C (This was above their target grade).

In my final year I was teaching 3 GCSE classes. A higher group in which all achieved B-A* as well as a vocational group and a bottom set where some pupils achieved grade C and others made their expected progress.

I have tutored both in school and privately with a lot of success. One example was a private student who came to me having achieved a grade F at the end of year 10. A year later she achieved a C in her GCSE exam. Successes from the exam results in 2016 include an A level student moving from a E to a B. A GCSE student moving from an F to a C who I started tutoring in February. Another GCSE pupil moving from a C to an A.

I am fully up to date with the changes in exams at GCSE Level for the new 9-1 GCSE`s and the changes in the sats for Primary school pupils.

Tutoring Approach:
I want all my students to be able to develop their understanding of mathematics rather than just learning how to answer a question. I try to work with their class teacher in following the methods they are being taught at school but also realise that different methods may be appropriate if they are struggling. I set homework weekly which is assessed at the start each session unless it is a longer piece or exam paper which is taken away and marked and brought back to the next session. I plan topics which are linked to previous learning in order to develop the bigger picture of mathematics but have excellent subject knowledge so I'm able to change my plan if the student wishes to look at another area that might have arisen as a problem in school/college. I also like my students to be proactive and get in touch if they wish to cover a particular topic which wasn't mentioned at the end of the previous session. I have a good relationship with all the people I tutor, they are at ease to ask questions and praise is central to help raise confidence. A native Japanese from Tokyo with the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. Lived in the UK for over 25 years. Specifically trained to teach non-Japanese learners. Teaching full time as a profession. My background is in graphic design but I travelled around New Zealand and Australia before coming to the UK. Through my travel, I met people from many different countries and greatly enjoyed the experience. I live in Kings Norton which is in the south side of Birmingham.

I taught my son Japanese singlehandedly from home without outside help and he got A* for both Japanese GCSE and A level. I take on both adults and students ranging from adults with Japanese connection in business, students who are studying for GCSE/JLPT. I am a Doctor of Psychology with a research and teaching experience at university for B.A. and M.A. and Ph.D. level students and professionals. Since October 2016 I had been successfully tutoring many UK/ international students who required help in Psychology (AS, A-level and Degree level), Data analysis, SPSS, Statistics, and were looking for assistance with their research projects or/ and thesis.

I am specialised in Clinical Psychology (reading disability/ dyslexia), though I have good knowledge in other fields of psychology, as well as research methodology and data analysis (preferably with SPSS). I have vast and recent experience of teaching at primary schools at Foundation Stage, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. My previous students have described me as relatable, friendly, and passionate about unleashing their potential, and I am determined to meet the same description by individuals I teach here. Having moved to Sheffield very recently from Manchester, I am committed to replicating positive opinions and success in any new tutees who give me the opportunity to teach them. My students are always grateful for my help, especially my son who achieved an A* in his mathematics A level last year (as well as at GCSE), despite stating he felt little interest in the subject.

As a tutor, few things are as emotionally rewarding to me as results day, and I am fervent about ensuring my new students feel the same way if given the chance.

I have a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge. While studying in my Bachelor's program in Russia and the Master's program at Cambridge I have developed a deep appreciation of the beauty of Mathematics and decided to specialize in the area. This eventually led to creating a new mathematical theory and defending my thesis.

As much as I like pondering on math problems on my own, it is especially important in maths to be able to explain the area to others, be they your colleagues, undergraduate and high school students or interested adults. Moreover, I found teaching really exciting and always feel extremely happy to see my students succeed.

Teaching Experience:
I have a lot of tutoring experience at various levels from 10-year-old kids to high-schoolers, university students and adults. Having started by helping my classmates in high school, I never stopped developing as a teacher. I worked for various tutoring companies as well as found students on my own gaining invaluable experience. I have prepared numerous students to A-levels and GSCE and overall know a lot about the UK education system. I have also prepared many students for the SAT Math Subject Test and various mathematical tournaments.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a few basic principles when working with students although my approach varies considerably from one student to another. As a first priority, I teach students the skills they need to solve problems effectively and efficiently, which helps them both in short-term goals (exam or competition) and overall increases their mathematical ability. Although A-level and GSCE scores can increase considerably by direct memorization of methods, I mostly focus on the underlying concepts which proves to be more beneficial to my students. That is, I teach all my students to think and understand and not just to memorize!
