I have taught through all the age ranges starting off as a Internationally Qualified Montessori Teacher, working right through to University level as an accelerated learning practitioner (I trained with Tony Buzan). My core specialism is Dyslexia and Special Needs. I have worked with home schooled children for many years as well as continuing to do regular home tutoring after school hours and some Saturday mornings. I still run Montessori workshops particularly for those involved in homehomeschooling. I'm in my early sixties, married with four children and three Grandchildren aged 5-9 yrs. I have 40 years' experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I like to give personal attention to my tutees and to tailor the lessons to their needs but am happy to teach online up to 3 people together to reduce costs if that helps. We work on Language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in ESOL lessons with plenty of practice for tests if needed and when studying literature at a higher level, I encourage my tutees to relate what they are reading to current issues and events in the world so that it is relevant and interesting for them. I am an artist-teacher whose passion lies within nature and its use as a subject within art education. My approach is open and relatively informal. I feel that tutoring works best when a relationship is established between myself and the student - they should feel free to ask questions, raise issues, and discuss any aspect of the work that interests them. English is essentially a skills based subject.
