I am a native speaker of Spanish with many years of experience in teaching the language to children, young people in their GCSE and A Level courses (I am an Examiner and Specialist for AQA and Edexel), and adults who want to learn Spanish for business or holidays. I am a qualified teacher of Spanish and a native speaker of the language. For the last 23 years, I have taught Spanish at different Secondary schools in Kent. I have also taught the language privately to adults wanting to learn or improve their command of the language for business or holiday purposes, and also to young people wanting to improve their chances of a good GCSE or A Level grade in Spanish. I am an examiner for AQA and I have taught Spanish GCSE and A Level courses for Edexel and AQA for many years. So, I am very familiar with the course contents.

The lessons that I teach are always interactive and practical. Students dictate both the content and the pace of the lessons and the aim is always to make the learning experience enjoyable. For example, if you are an adult wanting to improve your Spanish for holidays, we would reproduce in the lessons the situations that you would normally find yourself in while on holiday in Spain or any other Spanish-speaking country: greeting people, ordering food and drink, finding your way around, buying things, travelling around, asking for help, socialising, etc... Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Tutoring Approach:
I provide students with different resources to work autonomously: questionnaires, photo cards, mats, sentence builders, surveys, etc.
I like leading students to be active learners by being in charge of their own learning experience, self-evaluation and improvement; and take the necessary steps to achieve the required targets and goals, and thrive on their courses.
I encourage students to be resilient, autonomous, committed and involved in the lessons, and participate actively.
I promote self-confidence throughout the lessons.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Josh and I am looking forward to connecting with you. I am a graduate of languages from the University of Leeds (graduated in 2017) and a qualified MFL teacher (graduated in 2021). I speak Spanish, Catalan, French and Italian, and I have a good range of tutoring experience in the past for GCSE, A-Level and adult learners. I have a great interest in grammar, culture, history and politics, and would love to share that even further.

Teaching Experience:
I have been a qualified teacher for over a year, having worked predominantly in the Tameside region of Manchester. I completed my training with a School Direct course led by a school that was last rated OFSTED 'Outstanding', and then continued my teaching career in that same school as maternity cover. I am going to continue my teaching career at another school in Tameside, which is part of an academy trust with a number of OFSTED 'Outstanding' schools, which puts a huge amount of focus on teacher development and training.

Tutoring Approach:
I value the time taken with each of my students, and ensure that their key objectives and desired outcomes are met. I tailer all of my resources based on what the tutee would like to gain from the session(s), and work in accordance with GCSE/A-Level specifications from various exam boards where necessary. I have always worked with a 'stretch and challenge' mentality, and will always aim to get tutees to achieve to their highest potential, but in a calm, nurturing approach.
