I am an experienced and skilled Tutor of French, Russian and English as a foreign language. I have been tutoring continuously on a part time basis for 12 years, typically working with 5 or 6 students at any one time. I have spent several years living and working abroad, so this has given me quite an international outlook. At the same time, I am quite well-travelled within the UK and have a good understanding of English history, culture and customs. My approach is to explain each topic to the student using a lot of examples and playing life situations. Then we start using the language as soon as possible - practice is the key. I ask the learner a lot of questions to boost up his creative thinking and confidence. Doing productive and focused work during the lesson, I do not give a lot of homework, but provide a bunch of materials (easy TV series, music), which I tell my students to surround themselves with. Every lesson we recall what has been already learnt in order to gain mastery of the language through consistency.
