After leaving school, I studied at Nottingham University for a BA in Music, then for a MA in Theology from the London School of Theology. Having worked for a while at an inner-city secondary school, I went on to complete a research masters and a PhD in Biblical Studies, whilst working as a teaching affiliate at Nottingham University. I have since moved to Stourbridge to work in a local church whilst continuing academic research and writing. Hi, I'm Anna. I'm an author and a poet, I have had many poems published, won first prize in an international poetry competition (2011) and have also brought out two collections, which are on sale on Amazon. In 2015 I published my memoir A Hippopotamus at the Table. Set in South Africa in the 1970s. I'm about to publish my second memoir and published a book called Writing Memoir. I have a Level 3 teaching and assessment qualification. I have very good Maths and English having used them to study to degree level and in Youth Work Management. I have an active interest and knowledge in History, Geography and Religious Education having studied them to A-Level meaning that I am very knowledgeable in each of those subjects. I am a highly competent musician and sports person with Grade 5 in piano and music theory and having coached Football, Badminton, Tennis, Chess, Table Tennis.

My greatest skills are in building professional relationships, communication, building self-confidence and social skills, developing motivation and this is what I have been doing for over 15 years for hundreds of young people that I have met as a Youth Worker.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 15 years informally educating young people through qualifications and certifications.
I have over 9 years experience of teaching youth work and assessing it.
I am a Functional Skills tutor at Level 1 and 2 in English and Maths.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is student centred - focused on the students strengths and development points and work alongside the student to build confidence and trust so that the student can excel. My style is quite relaxed yet challenging for the student so that the student engages and to increase the students enjoyment and understanding of the material and why they are learning it. My approach is very thought through and meticulous, carefully considering: personality and learning styles as well as the preferences of the student. I provide a lot of explanation and am able to explain things in many different ways.

I am a friendly and approachable teacher and examiner with over a decade of experience. I hold Masters degrees in Education and Public Health, and am working on my PhD in London. Originally from North America, I have lived and worked in London since 2010.

Teaching Experience:
I qualified as a teacher of Humanities and Social Sciences (focusing on History, Religious Studies, and Psychology) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, before moving to the UK.

In my decade in London, I have taught Health and Social Care, Child Development, Psychology, and Religious Studies at GCSE and A-level equivalents (BTEC Levels 2 and 3 included), as well as tutored university students to support them with their writing and work on research methods.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to ask questions of the tutees to get them to think, but also to connect the work with what they may have already experienced. For example, when teaching Health and Social Care concepts, it is important to link this to the world around them, including what they may have seen recently in the news.

I would usually spend a few minutes at the beginning and end of each session just to check in with how the tutee is doing and what they would like to accomplish to make sure it is a productive session for them.

I am willing to not only support with exam subject knowledge, but to help with coursework modules as well in terms of understanding the content.

I am a college student, from the North of England. My academic passions include sciences as well as maths. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy travelling, hiking and new experiences. I am a novice polyglot, fluent in German, Arabic and French.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring for 3 years, since I completed my GCSE qualifications in 2023

Tutoring Approach:
My lessons are versatile and fun, all while maintaining the objective of the task at hand. I start by assessing the student's baseline knowledge, then scaffold based on that. I continue the lesson by challenging the student to a high grade level, and finish the lesson off by consolidating all the knowledge learnt in the lesson.
