This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful. I approach each student and the sessions with an open mind to learn what I need to be of support.

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a uniquely engaging, personally attuned service. The first lesson typically consists of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results can be shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual and tailored programme of learning is created. While encouraging the student to adopt high yet realistically achievable targets for their own education, I am also sensitive to the level of each student and what he or she is ready to adopt.

I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. Hi! I'm an Oxford graduate with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I graduated in 2013 and went on to study an MSc in Psychology at Oxford Brookes, in which I achieved a distinction. I am now a published author, and split my time between writing novels and tutoring. When I was in the 6th form (in 2009), I also volunteered as a classroom assistant in my school. I was working with students who were having difficulty with essay-based subjects like History and English. I worked with two students in their History classes, helping them to understand the work they were set in class and working through it with them. I had to use my knowledge of French to help one student who had not yet learnt to speak fluent English, translating the teacher's instructions for her and helping her with words she did not understand. Between 2009-10, I helped to run two after-school classes for Key Stage 2 pupils, one in Literacy and Art and another in Drama. This involved planning and delivering lessons to classes of about 5-10 children, and keeping them engaged with the topics they were learning through activities designed to both teach and entertain.

My experience of tutoring has shown me the importance of patience and respect in teaching. Especially in essay-based subjects, it is crucial that a teacher allows their pupils space to develop their own ideas, and respects their independent thought. Learning by rote has only limited usefulness: the best way to excel at a subject is to understand it, so I always explain concepts as fully as possible and move at the tutee's pace, making sure that they have properly grasped each concept or issue before moving on to the next. My Schools Plus training emphasised the idea that the goal of tutoring is to help a student to help themselves, enabling them to tackle problems rather than solving things for them. I think that this is fantastic advice, and it is a rule which I always try to bear in mind when tutoring.

Teaching Experience:
I am a highly experienced Psychology teacher with over 11 years of experience teaching A-level Psychology in both the UK and international schools.

Throughout my career, I have held leadership positions as Head of Psychology in both UK secondary schools and a leading international school in Bangkok. These roles have given me extensive experience in curriculum development, examination preparation and supporting students of all abilities to achieve their academic potential.

I specialise in AQA A-level Psychology and also have experience teaching Cambridge International A-level Psychology (9990) and Edexcel International A-level Psychology. I am an experienced AQA examiner for Papers 1 and 3, giving me valuable insight into examination requirements, marking criteria and the skills students need to achieve the highest grades.

Alongside my classroom teaching, I have several years of experience providing one-to-one private tuition, helping students strengthen their subject knowledge, develop their essay-writing skills and improve their examination technique. I have consistently received five-star reviews for my tutoring and pride myself on building positive relationships with students and their families.

I hold a degree in Psychology from the University of Exeter and a PGCE in Social Sciences. My combination of classroom teaching, departmental leadership, examining and private tutoring experience allows me to offer expert, personalised support to students aiming to achieve their very best.

My lessons are interactive and engaging, combining clear explanations of complex psychological concepts with discussion, retrieval practice, knowledge checks and exam-style questions. I regularly assess understanding and adapt my teaching to address misconceptions and close gaps in knowledge.

As an experienced AQA examiner, I place particular emphasis on exam technique and developing the skills needed to achieve top grades. I help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for, how to interpret questions, structure effective essays and develop sophisticated evaluation skills. I also provide detailed, constructive feedback so students know precisely how to improve.
