I am a PhD mathematician, with a special interest in applied mathematics and statistics. I worked for some years in University departments as a tutor and then lecturer. More recently I have worked for almost two decades in industry as a mathematician at a prestigious research centre in Cambridge. Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Avishan, I am a data engineer/physics graduate and I am passionate about teaching Mathematics and the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). I teach levels KS3/GCSE/iGCSE, am familiar with all major exam boards.

Teaching Experience:
Prior to starting my physics degree at university, I worked as a teaching assistant/tutor at a secondary school during my gap year, and continued tutoring during and after university as I genuinely admire teaching maths, amongst other subjects, and I love having the opportunity to show students how exciting learning can really be. During my time teaching at a school, in addition to teaching students on an individual basis, I took on the responsibility of teaching small classes myself, and I was also a mentor to a group of Year 11 pupils, having helped them with GCSE revision every week. I also have SEN teaching experience, having worked with SEN pupils from Years 7 to 11. I have a total of 9 years experience in teaching, both in a school setting and on a private tuition basis.

Tutoring Approach:
I usually tend to approach lessons by going through the background of the topic in focus and a few worked examples before giving students questions to answer themselves and going through worked solutions. Independent practice is a key part of becoming stronger in a subject, and the more a student practices, the better they will get, and this is a truly rewarding feeling. Throughout lessons, I work with a highly friendly, approachable and patient approach to tutoring, as it is vital to ensure that my students feel comfortable to ask questions on whatever topic they may have difficulties with.
Furthermore, I aim to be as concise in my explanations as possible and I like to break down problems into manageable chunks. For example, I encourage students to underline keywords in questions and, particularly in maths and science, to draw diagrams to help them visualise problems. When it comes to exam technique I teach students precisely how to answer certain styles of question to score full marks and show as much working wherever possible. This is not only a very important skill to have to get good grades, but it will help them develop more of an understanding of the problems they are solving.

I am a qualified teacher. I have a doctoral degree in Science from Manchester University. I have also obtained a Master's degree, in Biomedical Science and a Bachelor's degree (in Genetics ) from the University of Sheffield (UK).

I completed a postgraduate course in education and gained my qualified teacher status from Manchester University. Currently, I am a science teacher in a UK mainstream school. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. I have been involved in the teaching and training of undergraduate students in different science subjects including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at both Sheffield and Manchester Universities. I have lots of experience teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-level pupils in both mainstream and private schools in the UK. I have taught Science subjects ( Physics, chemistry, and Biology) to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students, preparing them for GCSE and A level exams.

I use powepoint to teach my lessons. I always make sure my students understand the main concepts first and close the gaps in their knowkedge. I then apply their knowledge to different exam questions to make them confident in answeing exam problems.

Personal Description:
I am a confident, hard working and positive person with a mature attitude.
I am an experienced private tutor. I work with A-level chemistry students who have been excluded for under performance in their schools and get them back to where they achieve an "A" when they take their final exams.
In short, I am good at motivating disaffected children, and raising the self esteem of those whose self esteem has been damaged.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught GCSE Biology, Physics and Chemistry and A-level chemistry for more that 30 years. I have been tutoring for the last 16 years.
I am currently teaching full time at a catholic school and taking some KS3, GCSE and A-level chemistry tuition after school and on Saturdays.

Tutoring Approach:
For GCSE and A-level, I make it a point that students familiarise themselves with the way examiners ask questions and the topic areas frequented by examiners. Through practice, students learn how to respond to exam questions with accuracy and precision. This is done for every topic. In addition, I train my students to be independent learners who can use available resources to help themselves find answers.

I am a graduate in Physics from University College London (UCL) and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Science (Medical Physics) at King's College London (KCL) as part of the Scientist Training Programme. With a deep passion for mathematics, I am eager to share my enthusiasm for the subject through tutoring, helping students appreciate its beauty and complexity.

As an approachable, engaging, and supportive tutor, I have consistently achieved A grades in both my GCSEs and A-Levels, and I am committed to helping my students reach the same level of excellence. I specialise in tutoring Mathematics and Physics, both of which are second nature to me, and I am confident in my ability to teach these subjects to a high standard.

Maths is often a challenging subject for many, and I can relate to those struggles. Initially, I found myself more drawn to literature and the humanities, but with the support of exceptional tutors and teachers, I uncovered a genuine passion for mathematics. 5 years experience
Tutored online for 4 years and tutored with Explore Learning for 1 year in person and online both. I tutored GCSE to a level maths and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:
Initial lesson for mathematics involves an assessment - this can be through a past exam paper. This allows me to determine what level the student is working at currently and also what topics need to be focused on more than others. From this I pick a topic to base the next lesson on. The lesson compromises of exam questions and taught material.

For physics I ask the student which exam board they are studying and which topic to focus on for the first session. I then plan a lesson on the topic by doing a question-answer session (It will be like recapping then topic with the student through questions used to prompt their memory). Normally questions are in flash card form. Then for the second half of the session I do exam questions from the exam board the student told me. These are topic based so each lesson will have questions focused on what was covered on the day. I send the notes from the lessons to the student as pdf files too. I write reports after I complete a lesson so parents know what the lesson covered and what to expect for upcoming sessions too. The more fluent a student becomes in answering questions- that shows progress is being made.
