I obtained my degree in physics and doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Nottingham. I then spent ten years working as a physicist in various universities in Italy, New Zealand and the UK. My specialty was low temperature physics. I am fascinated by science and try to pass on my enthusiasm.

In my spare time I enjoy white-water kayaking.

One of my responsibilities as a postdoctoral researcher was to mentor physics students. I am used to explaining difficult concepts and techniques in a clear, simple and concise way. I am originally from Turkey and I came to England to pursue my dream as an SEN specialist. I studied MA Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education at Manchester Metropolitan University.

During my BA studies, I tutored more than 20 primary school students on a regular basis.

That's something that I realised during my education and work experience- I was enjoying and working the best if I was working 1-1 basis. Between 2015-2018 I worked as a Special Needs Specialist (1-1 support) across several schools. I worked with more than 150 students who have ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, learning disabilities, down syndrome, multiple and profound learning disabilities, visual and hearing impairments. I worked with students from age 2 to 30. In the mean time, I topped up my knowledge studying 2 years foundation degree in Child Development to have more of a professional perspective on early years/Foundation stage.

In 2018, I moved to England to start my MA studies in Special Needs and carried on teaching 1-1 ever since I graduated in 2020.

I worked with several children/teenagers/young adults across Manchester within different settings. I got trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis/ABA and tutored in this area offering behavioural support alongside the academic support I have been offering.

I got regular students in Manchester , offering home schooling, pastoral and behavioural support on a regular basis. I have also offered short term interventions , behavioural/emotional support to students who have different needs during this period.

I am an undergraduate student studying Actuarial Science in one of the top Universities for Actuarial Science in Europe, Bayes Business School. Through the years, the goal of educating young children has been the focus of my chosen work experiences, both in Health and Social Care (Level 3) at A Level to outside the classroom. From shadowing Early Years Practitioners to assisting Reception class teachers, I have made my rounds from school to school. The invaluable lessons learnt at these settings gave me the skills used to run an afterschool homework club at the local community centre. This included maths and English classes taught to the children as an extension of the school curriculum to help them get a better footing in their classrooms. Combined with my bachelor's degree in Early Years Education, I've attained a well-rounded knowledge on childhood.
During my time volunteering at the local community centre, I aided in many after school and summer school activities. The aim; to widen the experiences and opportunities for the children of Somali refugees. This included sports-based activities in the summer holiday, football club, art club, dance as well as outside sourced leisure interests. My reasoning for volunteering here is that I was once one of these children and this was the same community centre that widened my own horizons. However, this did not have my focus, instead, afterschool homework club did. These experiences showed me that I am willing to go above and beyond for the children that need it both in and out of the classes.

As a nanny for two children in Key Stages' 1 and 2, I was fortunate enough to gain experiences of at home teaching of curriculum-based resources provided by the school during the lockdown. It was an invaluable insight into primary school curriculums and gave me the necessary experience needed into teaching, without leaving the house. I aimed to follow these schedules down to the break and lunch times to give the children a sense of normality and a readiness to learn during this unpredictable time.

Teaching is a rewarding job where children learn through fun and grow to become more inspired and confident learners. Its challenges include time management, differentiating learning styles and lack of funding to name a few. I found time management to be the most important of all, not only for the children but also to aid the teacher themselves, both in and out of the classroom. This leaves time and energy to brainstorm teaching styles specifically for the children being taught, to create a classroom where children with varying learning styles can be educated differently yet equally.

There are a set number of qualities that all teachers must possess to work with children learned during my work experiences in a nursery and primary schools and after school homework programme at the local community centre.
