My name is Jamie. I'm a maths graduate from the University of Bath (MMath). I was a Maths Teacher and Key Stage 5 Coordinator at a well-known and very successful secondary school and sixth form in Bath.

I have been a Maths tutor on and off since I was in sixth form and have over 10 years' experience across a variety of ages and abilities (as well as 5 years' experience as a teacher). I am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE from University of York and a 2(i) Bsc in Mathematics from the University of Durham. I was Head of Maths for ten years before choosing to work for myself. I teach all the exam boards (EdExcel, AQA, OCR). I taught in schools for 15 years before becoming a private Maths tutor for the last 15. I tend to do more A-level than anything else, but GCSE or KS3 are not a problem.

Tutoring Approach:
I tend to get the students to drive each session so we can focus on what they tell me is a problem, whether that's a particular topic, a piece of work they've been set, or a particular question. If in doubt, I get them doing exam questions, as that quickly reveals any issues or weaknesses. It's not a problem for me to react to whatever the student tells me they want to cover that particular week. For online students, I set up an online folder with past papers, formula sheet etc so they can also add anything they want to go through with me. When we cover a topic, I'll write up a revision card for the student for them to keep, so next time it comes up we can pull the card out.
