Hello! I am 47 years old, originally from Denmark and moved to the UK 20 years ago for my degree. Before teaching, I worked as a monkey veterinary technician in the US, conducted my Masters research on crop-raiding macaques in Indonesia, and helped to run a volunteer expedition in the Amazon. After a couple of years of teaching in secondary school as a Science and Spanish teacher, I heard the call of the wild again and travelled for a year through Mexico and Central America. I am the mum of two children and step mum to three more. I home educated my two children from when they were 12, and helped them to get 16 IGCSEs and GCSEs between them. One has since gone on to university following A levels at sixth form college, and the other has graduated from an art and design diploma with D*D*D*, the highest grade possible.

From there, every session is tailored to the student's specific needs-whether that means consolidating tricky classroom topics, preparing for an upcoming mock exam, or developing a long-term revision strategy for final A-levels.

Achieving a strong exam grade requires not only a solid grasp of mathematical concepts but, more importantly, strong problem-solving skills. In my sessions, I regularly use past paper questions, emphasising a logical, well-structured approach that makes workings clear and easy to follow. I also help students build their numerical fluency by introducing carefully selected mental maths questions as daily practice (set as homework). Finally, I provide constructive, specific feedback to help students learn from their mistakes and refine the exam techniques needed to reach the top grades.
