My approach to teaching centres around patience, clarity and adapting the lesson to the individual student. One of the main advantages of one-to-one tuition is that there is no need to move on simply because the rest of a class is ready to do so. If a student needs more time on a particular idea, we can spend that time; equally, if they have understood something quickly, we can move on to more challenging material.

Where possible, I like to work through topics in a carefully structured progression, beginning with the underlying ideas and building towards the more difficult and exam-style questions. The resources I have developed over the years are particularly helpful here, as I can choose questions of an appropriate level and gradually increase the difficulty as the student progresses. I don't feel there is much point in rushing through a topic for the sake of it, so I am always happy to take things as slowly as the student might want - going back over past topics/questions if that's what they feel would be most helpful.

I am also eager to push students if I feel they are capable of working at a higher level. Many students underestimate their own ability because the pace or style of their school lessons does not suit the way they learn, only to find that, once they begin one-to-one tuition, they are capable of much more than they had realised.

I'm a maths tutor based in Hounslow, London, with about a year of experience working with young people. Most of my work has been one-to-one and in small groups, through ChalkDuster, Brunel University London, and Queen Mary University of London.

I mainly teach math to KS2, KS3, and KS4 GCSE students. A lot of what I do is help students with topics they've struggled with in class and explain things in a different way until it finally clicks for them. Right now I'm working as a teaching assistant with Queen Mary University of London on their outreach program. I run maths sessions for KS3 and KS4 students and visit partner schools to support students one-to-one and in small groups. I mostly help them work through topics they've found tricky in class. I have a strong background in Sciences and Medicine. My passion in these subjects encouraged me to become a tutor, where I can guide and motivate students in their studies. My medical training also equipped me with patience, as well as strong communication skills and teaching skills. All these experiences shaped me to become an ideal tutor for students who want to achieve the best that they can do.

Besides academic, I am a black belt holder in Taekwondo, a Korean martial art. I started learning Taekwondo since I was six. I have taught students ranging from primary students to adults, in their pursuit of an active lifestyle and skills to defend themselves if needed.

Teaching Experience:
I have 6 years of tutoring experience in multiple formats. I have taught primary students in groups to guide them finishing their exercises and homework. I have also been tutoring 1-to-1 to a student in Hong Kong since she was in primary school. Her academic growth helped her getting into one of the most prestigious secondary schools. I have also been teaching my fellow medical students as part of my medical training, with positive feedback received.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to tailor the needs of the students. To provide personalised guidance, I always check how much the students know first, followed by setting goals for each lessons. I would focus on explaining the concepts rather than simply reciting facts. Also, with my extensive background in Sciences and Medicine, I would provide examples and interesting facts to keep students being engaged in learning and encourage their curiosity in the subjects.
