Personal Description:
Professional Maths Tutor with BSc Mathematics (1st class) from the University of Aberdeen and MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems from University of Edinburgh.

I am friendly, easy going and take great pride in helping people reach their academic potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 8 years of tutoring experience and have tutored 100+ pupils of varying mathematical ability, which has given me a great insight into the common problems pupils have. The majority of my lessons happen face to face but over the last few years, especially in 2020, I have had a lot of requests for online lessons.

I cover the main syllabuses taught in Scotland and England. I also have experience tutoring international curriculum such as American K-12 and South African Matriculation. Here is a list of the levels I have most experience with:

National 5
Higher
Advanced Higher
GCSE
AS and A Level Maths and Further Maths (AQA, Edexcel etc)
IB SL and HL, Applications and Interpretation or Analysis and Approaches

A large number of my tutees were found through word-of-mouth from former tutees pleased with their results.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is an individual and deserves to be treated as such. There is no one size fits all approach that works for everyone so I make sure to really understand how all my students think in order to optimise their learning.

During lessons I go as fast or as slow as needed. I can start from the basics and build up or get straight into more advanced concepts. Practice questions are extremely important and lessons usually consist of us working careful through a question set on a particular topic. It is very important to me that my tutees feel comfortable and their confidence continues to rise with each lesson.

I believe that everyone deserves the best chance at school. It does not matter to me if you are a straight A student looking for some insurance, or if you are a bottom set student who has always struggled with maths. All I ask from my tutees is a willingness to learn.

Private Tutoring - Mathematics, Physics, Italian & Drama
2000 - Present | UK & Europe

I have over 20 years' experience tutoring students of different ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds, from primary school to university level. I support both long-term academic development and targeted exam preparation (GCSE and A-Level), combining subject expertise with structured learning strategies and coaching tools.

Through a clear, motivating, and exam-focused approach, the student progressed from Level 5 to Level 7 in both subjects, successfully accessing A-Level pathways. Parents highlighted my ability to quickly assess learning gaps, build trust, and increase confidence, motivation, and independent study skills.

My tutoring approach emphasises:
- Clear structure and exam readiness
- Step-by-step problem solving

- One-to-one coaching

- Experiential workshops

Educational Leadership & Group Facilitation
Tour Director | WorldStrides | UK & Europe

Alongside my teaching and coaching work, I have extensive experience as a Tour Director for WorldStrides, leading and supporting student groups in international educational contexts.

Program leaders consistently highlight my ability to build trust quickly, communicate clearly, manage group dynamics, and respond calmly and creatively to challenges. Feedback frequently references strong relationship-building, empathy, professionalism, and genuine care for students' wellbeing - qualities I bring into every teaching and tutoring relationship.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe effective teaching starts with strong relationships, clarity, and trust. A teacher can make a real difference in a person's life - for better or worse - and at its best, teaching can be a source of inspiration that helps students discover confidence and even enjoyment in subjects they once found difficult or unapproachable. When students feel understood and supported, they engage more fully and make faster, more sustainable progress.

As a private tutor, I work one-to-one, which allows me to tailor each lesson to the student's specific needs, learning style, and goals. Every student is different, and there is no single method that works for everyone. My role is to understand how each student learns best and to adapt my approach accordingly.

I begin with an initial session to assess the student's current level, identify learning gaps, and clarify objectives (for example exam requirements, confidence-building, or long-term improvement). From there, I design a clear, structured learning plan, combining subject expertise with coaching tools to support focus, motivation, and effective study habits.

Each session is carefully prepared in advance and structured to:
- Build understanding step by step
- Encourage active participation and independent thinking
- Develop confidence and exam readiness
- Reinforce learning through practice and feedback

I expect commitment from the student, and I support this by creating a positive, calm, and encouraging learning environment where questions are welcomed and mistakes are seen as a natural part of learning.

My aim is not only to help students improve academically, but also to equip them with strategies, confidence, and self-belief that stay with them well beyond the subject itself.
-------------------

'My goal is always measurable progress, achieved in a way that feels supportive, motivating, and sustainable.'

Personal Description:
I am 60 years old, originally from a business and finance background, and retrained as a teacher from 2008/9, completing a PGCE. I am QTLS qualified and a member of the Tutors' Association which promotes professional standards in the tutoring industry.
I operate as a freelance/private tutor specialising in mathematics and have experience in teaching all ages from primary up to GCSE. I also have several years' experience teaching basic numeracy and literacy to adults.

Teaching Experience:

From 2007-2009 I worked as a volunteer/trainee teacher for a further education college and from 2009-2012 was employed as a basic skills tutor travelling throughout East Anglia teaching adult numeracy and literacy in the workplace. Since January 2012 I have worked as a private tutor teaching mathematics to 5 - 16 year olds whilst continuing to work as a part-time Functional Skills and GCSE mathematics tutor for a local college.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that all teaching should be learner-centred so learning is enjoyable and effective. Personal Description:
I have over 30 years' experience in education as a teacher, former headteacher, university tutor and private tutor. I believe every child can succeed when learning is tailored to their individual needs and delivered in a supportive, encouraging environment. My lessons are engaging, well-structured and designed to build both confidence and understanding. Whether preparing for SATs, GCSEs, A Levels or simply boosting confidence, my aim is to help every student enjoy learning and achieve their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for over 30 years across primary, secondary and higher education. My experience includes working as a classroom teacher, headteacher, university associate tutor and private tutor. I currently teach and mentor trainee teachers at university while supporting students from primary through to A Level. I have extensive experience preparing pupils for SATs, GCSEs and A Levels, and adapting my teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs, including those of students with SEND.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is centred on understanding each student as an individual. I begin by identifying their strengths, areas for development and preferred learning style before tailoring lessons to meet their needs. I believe learning should be engaging, enjoyable and challenging, with clear explanations, regular feedback and plenty of encouragement. By building confidence alongside knowledge and skills, I help students become increasingly independent learners who are well prepared for examinations and future academic success.

Personal Description:
I'm a second year biomedical science student. I took my A-Levels in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in 2019 and GCSEs in 2017 and having recently done these exams, I know just how challenging they are.

Being a student myself and having the experience of currently tutoring students who are doing their GCSEs and A-Levels, I know the methods that work best to help your child understand the content they need to know. I understand the way young people learn very well and the ways I teach reflect this - with an extensive focus on understanding (not memorising) and application to real-world contexts so your child can appreciate the reason behind learning what they learn. In addition to this, I offer extensive exam practice to ensure they understand their course, its structure, and how to maximise marks in their exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching students of varying ages for over a year now in Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Some of my students have been predicted As and A*s at their current level - some of them had started out at C grades when they had first come to me.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to work with your child to help them learn and understand the content (rather than simply memorise) so the sessions your child has with me will be greatly focused on what they would like to learn in their specification, what areas they need to improve on, and exam question practice and please be rest assured that you'll be updated about their progress regularly.

Being a structural engineer, mathematics encompasses a large part of my life. With all my experience I will be able to help your child overcome any difficulties they have with mathematics currently.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring high school students mathematics for the past 8 years both privately in one on one situations as well as being a boarding house tutor in many private schools in New Zealand.

Having sat A-Levels in New Zealand and gaining an `A` for A-level mathematics, I have a good understanding of what is required to prepare for these exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Practice is key when studying mathematics so once I explain the theory, I like to pose practice questions to my students and then fill in any gaps in understanding they may have.

Personal Description:
- Build your child's confidence in maths
- Help them improve with their math results
- Work with an experienced Maths teacher and tutor to support you and your child achieve their goals

Experienced Math teacher in fourth year of teaching in mainstream schools and over a thousand hours of tuition. I will look to support students, working on their weaknesses and building on their strengths so they are ready to reach both their academic and other goals. I enjoy helping students progress within their education whilst enjoying it at the same time.

I am a patient tutor that seeks to understand the student and how I can best help them. I live in Wakefield, Yorkshire though unfortunately I only possess a mild Yorkshire accent!

I have tutored students from around the U.K, Netherlands and America from primary up to college with success at every level. I can provide written feedback from my tutees who have been ecstatic about the tutoring they have received.

I've previously studied at the University of York, worked at L'Oreal and have led several charity initiatives that have raised approx half a million pounds. I currently run an e-commerce business that focuses on technology and other retail items. I enjoy showing students what they can achieve with Maths whether that is the path that they are looking to take or just to pass an exam. I will motivate them within all facets of their life so that they not only become better mathematicians but more confident individuals.

I run and teach within an online tuition centre that focuses on KS3 Maths students up to Further Maths at A Level. I can also direct to you brilliant English and Science Tutors if required.

Individual tutoring costs £50 per hour. This includes a tailored plan, weekly assignments, regular feedback regarding progress and tests to show you the improvements.

For more information, please message me with your requirements and I'll get back to you within 12 hours to support.

Teaching Experience:

Working in schools with students has allowed me to understand how best to support students in groups or one-to-one situations to help them progress as quick as possible. I have over 1,000 hours experience of tuition and am able to support students of all abilities. I have enjoyed supporting students with entrance exams to secondary schools, passing their GCSE and also retaking their Maths GCSE with success in all. I am also able to support students with SEN needs and aim to personalise learning for all so that it is accessible and achievable.

Working with children and young adults for several summers through the National Citizen Service has helped me improve my ability to challenge, motivate and help students progress, helping them reach their goals.

Prior to entering the education sector and working with children, I worked within large corporations in London and have several years of leadership experience through volunteering within the charity sector leading teams that have cumulatively raised half a million pounds.

I studied at the University of York till 2018 and am currently completing my Masters in Development and Education. Through my varied and wealth of experiences I am able to support students from all backgrounds and abilities.

Personal Description:
With a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies, I've delved into various educational philosophies like Steiner, Frobel, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia. I firmly believe that each approach offers unique benefits to every child. My journey includes extensive experience in preparing children for 7+, 8+, 11+, SATs KS2 tests, and ISEB Common Entrance exams. I've successfully guided students to prestigious schools like Royal Grammar School, Queen's College, and St. Paul's Prep School. Specializing in interview prep for 11+ school entrance, I focus on core subjects for ages 3-11, including early years and primary/elementary levels. My passion lies in supporting children with dyslexia and autism, empowering them with strategies to boost confidence, overcome challenges, and realize their potential. Equipped with a TEFL certificate, I'm committed to enhancing my skills with an upcoming course in teaching young learners.

Teaching Experience:

With 3 years of experience in Sunday school, I meticulously planned weekly lessons. As a classroom assistant, I focused on aiding the lowest ability groups, and providing crucial support with classwork. Specializing in English, maths, and science for ages 5-11, I'm passionate about helping dyslexic children thrive in reading and writing. My tutoring approach revolves around understanding each child's learning style, and tailoring lessons accordingly. I love incorporating educational games, particularly for younger learners aged 5-7. Successfully preparing students for 7+, 11+, and SATs KS2 tests is a testament to my dedication.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching philosophy revolves around infusing fun into focused learning. I believe in creating an engaging and dynamic environment where students not only grasp concepts but also enjoy the process. By understanding each child's unique learning style, I tailor my lessons to ensure maximum comprehension and retention. Whether it's incorporating educational games for younger learners or employing interactive activities for older students, I strive to make every session both enriching and enjoyable. With a balance of fun and focus, I guide my students towards academic success while fostering a lifelong love for learning.

Personal Description:
I am an aspiring Medic currently studying at Imperial College London, I have lived in London my entire life and love all parts of it. I am a judoka training many times a week looking to develop my skill and passion for the sport. I am passionate about learning as a whole and enjoy the endeavour. I teach Maths, Biology and Chemistry as those are my strongest subjects and the ones which I find myself researching the most in my free time. I achieved an A* in Biology and A in Maths and Chemistry, 9's in all 3 of them at GCSEs gaining <90% in both my Maths and Further Maths Paper.

Teaching Experience:

I volunteered with IntoUniversity, for a year, to help kids who would struggle in school to develop their studying skills and their communication. It was a very unique experience for me and was extremely engaging and one of the main reasons I would like to do tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to tutor in a way that I have found the most effective to learn. I find that by gaining a deep understanding of the content learning it becomes much easier and memorising it will no longer feel like a tedious chore. Coupled with that, a friendly teaching approach that encourages the student to learn and enjoy the lessons makes it much easier for them to succeed in their exams aswell, I feel when you become passionate about the subject or learning as a whole the entire process becomes much less robotic and as a result a much smoother and enjoyable experience,

Personal Description:
As a passionate educator with over 5 years of experience teaching mathematics and physics in Manchester, I specialise in helping KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students excel. By simplifying complex concepts and tailoring lessons to individual learning styles, I make learning both effective and enjoyable. My students consistently achieve outstanding results, with over 80% improving by at least two grades in a short time, and many securing top marks or places at their desired schools.

I am also experienced in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), providing the personalised guidance they need to thrive. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy coding, running, and playing team sports such as rugby and football. These activities keep me energised and motivated, ensuring I bring enthusiasm and inspiration to every lesson, helping students build confidence and realise their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

With a strong academic foundation and hands-on teaching expertise, I excel at breaking down even the most challenging topics into simple, relatable concepts. My adaptable teaching style ensures that every student learns at their own pace, and I am committed to helping them not only improve their grades but also develop a deep understanding and lasting confidence in mathematics and physics.

I pride myself on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel empowered to tackle challenges and reach their goals. Whether helping a student master the fundamentals or preparing for high-stakes exams, my focus remains on inspiring a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is student-centred, focusing on interactive problem-solving and real-world applications. Lessons, typically lasting 60 to 90 minutes, blend theoretical insights with practical exercises to make maths and physics both accessible and engaging. I encourage active participation, fostering a positive learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and explore new ideas.

After each lesson, I provide students with clear, concise notes and step-by-step solutions to key problems covered in the session. Additionally, I assign targeted exercises to reinforce their understanding and support future revision. My ultimate goal is to simplify challenging concepts, help students build confidence, and inspire an appreciation for the beauty and logic of mathematics and physics.
