I have taught mathematics for over 20 years now and enjoy keeping up to date with lesson delivery, whilst maintaining a keen interest in how we learn about numbers and maths generally. Towards the end of my career I became interested in our parents and how many struggle with the often complicated explanations offered in some texts or online explanations. I am now semi retired and enjoy offering some simple private tuition in addition to continuing to work part time in schools. I am a friendly, down to earth tutor a good sense of humour.

Due to the large number of students that i help i am not able to travel to children any longer so children come to my home for tuition but only in special circumstances do i travel to a child's home on Sundays . I normally teach the children for an hour and then give them homework for further skill practice. I have just finished a PhD in maths at Newcastle University so it goes without saying I'm enthusiastic about both maths and physics. On top of this I have a wide variety of interests, and this allows me to find ways of explaining things that the people I'm tutoring can relate to.

Teaching Experience:
While studying at Newcastle I've taken many tutorials for students taking courses in Maths. For the past 6 years I've also worked in a tutoring drop-in centre where any student at Newcastle University can come to ask maths questions.
