I have been a teacher for many years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. Tutoring Approach:
Within the first session, I discover the individual needs of my learners, their strengths and weaknesses. Then I devise a plan to address the whole programme of study within the number of weeks available, so no topic is ignored. I work simultaneously on exam requirements, but also on skill development, skills that the student can benefit from, outside the boundaries of a specific exam format. Students find themselves forgetting the time, often engrossed in their work, mentally challenged and stimulated. I set short homework at times, so that students can practise independently on those skills they develop with me, being reassured that they can transfer those skills further. I do provide learning materials which I do personalize for each student. I am very likable and I do make young learners be at ease within minutes of meeting them.

Tutoring Approach:

During lessons I go as fast or as slow as needed. I can start from the basics and build up or get straight into more advanced concepts. Practice questions are extremely important and lessons usually consist of us working careful through a question set on a particular topic. Ben has been working with my boys for past 4 months now and I couldn`t happier with my choice. My boys are really happy to be tutored by Ben. They feel that their confidence has increased and look forward to working with him. As parents we feel Ben knows child`s ability and aptitude like the back of his hand. When Ben started working with my boys I was really happy with his systematic approach towards the subject depending on the ability of the kids. Ben has taught my son for Eleven plus since September and I can see my kid doing his daily homework himself without expecting our help. We can see the way of reading has changed and now he looks for new words and try to find the meaning.

Most importantly, Ben develops the wrap over the kid and takes control of reading and writing completely, leaving us in the back seat to see he completes the daily homework. This is great, as we don`t want to study class 4,5 again or teach a different method than thought in school.

Ben has excellent teaching skills and my daughter significantly improved in class from lower to top groups. I`ve seen him working really hard with my daughter while preparing her for 11+ and he knows the tricks to make the pupil understand the exam technique and how to improve academically. I support children with special educational needs and offer bespoke 1:1 tutoring to enable them to make progress as well as supporting children who either require academic intervention and /or those who are aiming for a higher standard of education. This is achieved by identifying need and developing their abilities by target setting and thorough teaching of knowledge and skills.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that small group or 1:1 bespoke tuition can and does enable children to flourish and thrive. With an intense school curriculum being delivered within schools, tutoring offers both children and parents an opportunity to develop educational knowledge and skills at a pace suitable to the child. This ensures that academic gaps are diminished and children are able to make progress either more in line with age related levels or to a higher standard. I use a variety of tools to aid me to deliver quality teaching including a number of online ICT resources. Taking on a metacognitive approach, the children that I work with are engaged and interested in their learning. For children that require additional support, I use concrete resources as an aid. I also revisit learning and teach new skills as the children develop over time.

Being a full time teacher, I am available evenings and weekends and can offer online or face to face tuition This can be either in my home or yours (dependent on travel).

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Alan. I offer Mathematics lessons online and in person in the Newport (South Wales) and surrounding areas.
I am extremely patient, especially with the pupils requiring extra support. I aim to provide all my tutees with the confidence and the understanding which is necessary for success in the subject. I also undertake examination work which I have done for many years. This gives me a greater understanding of the possible areas of weakness by students in the subject and therefore I can guide them accordingly during the lessons. I travel to the homes of my students and am flexible about evening/weekend lessons according to parent requirements. I also offer online lessons via Skype if that is preferred.

Teaching Experience:
I have some 30 years experience as a Mathematics teacher in both the state and private sectors teaching children from 7 to 18 years of age.
I have also tutored Mathematics for many years to children and adults and achieved very good results.
I have also been involved with examination work for GCSE Mathematics over the years.

Personal Description:
A second year medic at the University of Edinburgh. I graduated with 44/45 in the IB.

I did not get where I am today by myself. I had help - friends, family, and teachers. I know how much impact a teacher can have, and I just want to help where I can.

Prior to Uni, I spent 2 years in the Army developing ,training and leading frontline soldiers. I have seen people from all walks of life and am committed to developing and teaching my students as well.

Teaching Experience:
Prior to Uni, I tutored final year IB students for a year. Prior to that, I did not have any formal teaching assignments, only teaching friends or some of my soldiers when I was serving. Despite that, I have been coaching for most of my life. Since I was 15 I have been mentoring my juniors in my extra curriculars at school, so I am well versed when it comes to different methods of mentoring.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy getting to know my students beyond their academic needs; building a connection and seeing that they are supported in any way that I can.

I also believe in understanding rather than memorizing, so I teach my students skills that will help them approach problems logically instead of just memorizing the textbook.

I am flexible and can tailor lesson times specific to the student.
