More than almost any other subject, maths needs confidence to be built, and a patient, individually tailored approach. Able students may need practice to strengthen problem-solving and eliminate errors, a more joined-up view of maths to deepen their understanding, and challenge to stretch their capabilities. Others find A-level maths harder going, and an imaginative and pictorial approach with plenty of real world examples is needed to achieve that "penny drops" moment!

Depending on the student, tuition may include any or all of: coaching to consolidate (or anticipate) teaching at school; revision for examinations; working through past examination papers; teaching and testing of specific sections of the curriculum; or more free-wheeling exploration of mathematical topics. Post doctoral researcher at University of Sheffield, working to improve mathematical computer models which predict onset of heart disease.

I recently completed a PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, carrying out mathematical research on heart disease. My first degree was in Maths at the same university, and I took a Masters in Biomedical Research in between.

I attended both a state school and a top boarding school and am comfortable to cover topics on and off the standard syllabus.

I am a very fun, friendly person with a wide range of activities and hobbies from inline skating to singing and playing the violin.

I am recent graduate with an honours degree in Mathematics with Statistics from Royal Holloway University of London. Currently I am now studying a master's degree at the University of West London in Cyber Security.
For the past 5 years I have continued working part time at my local study centre as a classroom assistant helping children between the ages of 3 and 18 with their numeracy and literacy subjects.
Alongside my academia I have also continued with sports, achieving the top level (Black Belt) in Choi Kwang Do and often watch football games.
In February 2020, I obtained my DBS certificate.
From October 2020, I have began giving hourly sessions for tutees both face-to-face and online, to help improve the knowledge of students and prepare for upcoming exams. I have conducted lessons over Zoom and Skype, and I am open to using other online platforms such as Microsoft Team.

Teaching Experience:
During my studies, I had worked as a teaching assistant for nearly 5 years aiding students in their mathematical studies. Under my guidance as a teaching assistant I have seen students excel their end of module tests in order to progress to the next level of their mathematical learning.

I am currently an academic tutor, a therapeutic tutor for special needs and an artist. I previously worked in software engineering after studying my integrated masters in computer science and mathematics at the University of Sheffield in which I achieved a 2:1. I have achieved excellent (A, A*) grades in my academic subjects at GCSE and A levels.

I have been tutoring for 8 years now since the age of 17. Having taught in many different environments to many students of a range of ages and abilities, I have great experience in adapting my teaching style to most benefit my students` learning. I am an approachable teacher who loves to teach and inspire students to learn and achieve their goals. For exam preparation I have particular techniques that have worked excellently for all my students. They have improved their skills, grade and also their confidence in the subject!

For examinations I am able to assist with 7+, 11+, 13+, SATs, GCSE, iGCSE, A Levels and I will follow the exam board specification that the student is taking (ie. OCR, AQA, Edexcel).

Teaching Experience:
- I have worked as a private tutor in Leicester, Sheffield, Nottingham, London and Taiwan over the last 8 years. I have had over 80+ students who have all achieved their desired grades. I have taught maths, english and computer science.
- I`ve worked at English Camps across Taiwan for 3 months, where I organised activities and taught english to groups of 15-20 students. I also lived with homestay families and and experienced taiwanese culture.
- During my time at University I led a volunteering learning activities project for a year. I arranged and led monthly activities for children aged between 8-12.
- I have worked as a teaching assistance at King Ecgbert School in Sheffield where I lead year 7, 9 and 11 maths classes. I also taught Cryptography lessons and taught lessons in small groups around class time.
- For two years I was a tutor at a First Class Learning tutoring company in Leicester where I taught english and maths from primary to secondary level including GCSEs in groups of 5.

Tutoring Approach:
- I make sure my students understand the foundations of the subject well such that they can transition into learning the advance content with confidence. Along side this my teaching approaches come from a well thought out psychological perspective; such that the students feel motivated, not let down by mistakes, enjoys learning, learns how to use their strengths, and how to identify their weaknesses.

- I will also prepare my students for sitting exams and applying exam techniques so that they feel mentally ready to sit their exam(s) and in turn are able to achieve the best grade.

- I will be available to the student outside the tutoring session time for any subject related questions they may have.

Personal Description:
I am currently on a gap year where I would be at University if not for covid. I have passions for music, martial arts and maths (so long as it starts with an M, it's probably good). I think that this year has been a nightmare for students and teachers alike and I would love to lend my experience to help out with any students struggling, so I have decided to take on online tutoring work during this year.

Teaching Experience:
I have not done paid tutoring work before (though the offer has arisen). Mostly I have taught friends and locals or explained what I'm studying to unwitting bystanders at church or school.

Tutoring Approach:
I think it's most important that the student understands the essence of the subject and can think critically about it, and I like to discuss this with students until we can apply this understanding to the syllabus and the exam to come such that anything they've learned before or will learn on that topic will make sense. If the content is difficult for the student I can explain from a number of angles, including visual methods such as the Desmos graphing calculator.
