Personal Description:
I am a PGCE-qualified teacher with two Master's degrees, and I also serve as a Cambridge International examiner. My teaching expertise covers Mandarin GCSE (9-1), IGCSE, GCE (A level), HSK, Japanese GCSE (9-1), and JLPT qualifications. I teach my students both on-site and via Zoom for private students.

Teaching Experience:

I teach both Mandarin and Japanese at local independent schools and universities, and I am also an experienced private tutor. I instruct both simplified and traditional Chinese, as well as Japanese, to both native and non-native students, including professionals. Over the past decade, my students have consistently achieved outstanding results in Edexcel Chinese (9-1) and Japanese GCSEs (9-1), earning A* and Grade 9. Additionally, they have excelled with As in A-level Chinese.

I've successfully tutored numerous students who pursued further 'Oriental studies' at Oxford University, completed an MPhil in Chinese studies at Oxford, and Japanese at Leeds University and Cardiff University.

In addition, I possess a strong working knowledge of the national curriculum and am very familiar with the demands and expectations of both state and independent schooling.

Tutoring Approach:

Encouraging, effective, student-centered approach, and developing a love for learning.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about teaching languages, mostly orientals, and also coaching martial arts and self defence. I coach the IWTA-EWTO-WingTsun 梁挺詠春拳.

In the first 12 weeks of the beginners program you'll learn the basics for a proactive and "pre-emptive" self defence and to deal with the most "common" types of attacks. This is the Blitz-Defence program.

Afterward you start a more sophisticated training program where you learn to deal with an aggressor in a less violent way by using our unique tactile skills training method.

I can assure you, you will terminate every lesson by learning something new and useful! All I need is your concentration.

Due to the contact nature of this martial art I cam only teach in person and not online

Teaching Experience:

Currently tutoring Italian (advanced level) and Japanese (basic level) in all the 4 skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

January 2012 - PRESENT: I have been teaching Italian language since January 2012 on 1-2-1 base and via skype when I am abroad.

February 2012 - April 2012: I taught Japanese language for absolute beginners via skype.

April 2010 - February 2012: I taught at The Mill Languages School, in Macclesfield town centre: Mandarin, Japanese, German. In particular I have taught German language to a tailored group to refresh their skills.

August 2015 - 2016. Tutoring Japanese language to beginner level via skype. I taught to school teachers who are planning to travel to Japan and teach English, they need a minimum fluency to go by.

....however; nothing can beat the experience I have matured over these past 2 years. I need your full committment over a term period (3 months). I need a quite learning environment where I can focus on your progress; either a public library or my house; coffee shop may work depending on the time we agree.

Tutoring Approach:

I am based in Macclesfield and I teach in an informal and yet methodical way; I can teach colloquial and formal languages.

As for martial art for self-defence (WingTsun Kungfu 梁挺詠春拳) I have been teaching privately at different venues.
Each 1-2-1 class has to be booked. I combine the Kungfu system with my experience in working with body awareness and body technique at contact.
This is a very diverse method of teaching in comparison to the mainstream as it involves not just the purely choreographic aspect but a more comprehensive.

Personal Description:
Fully qualified teacher of Japanese and Russian languages (all levels).

I prepare students for GCSE and A-level exams, as well as assess exam results for colleges. I also assist students with all levels of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and TRKI (The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language).
I currently teach private individuals, groups, as well as some government organisations and corporate entities.

Being native in Russian, and an expert in the Japanese & English languages, I am acutely aware of the differences between English & Japanese and English & Russian languages, their specific capabilities, nuances and requirements.
I focus on teaching methods that are designed to make learning interactive and fun. I have developed my own strategy for delivering concise and meaningful learning methods to my students to assist their understanding. I enjoy teaching languages; it gives my students an opportunity to communicate with new people and expand their world.

I obtained a Master's Degree in diplomacy/international relations at a top-ranking Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO) with Japanese and English languages.

In 2000 I undertook the internationally recognised Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) achieving a 'Level 1' pass (the highest attainable level).
From 2000 until 2010 I lived in Japan, and worked in a senior position for a leading Japanese technology company in Tokyo. During this time it afforded me an excellent 'real world' understanding of the Japanese language, its nuances and the fascinating Japanese culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Russian and Japanese languages for about 8 years.
References can be provided.
This website doesn't allow students to leave feedback, but once I have your details I will send you a link to where I have 50+ 5* feedback.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tutoring on Japanese and Russian languages for all levels from beginner to advanced. My lessons are tailor-made for each person, so no matter what your level or interest, I can ensure you will achieve your goals. Therefore, if you are looking to learn for a holiday, or as a main language I'll be able to help!

Personal Description:
I have lived in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom since December 2009. I am originally from Kumamoto, where I completed a training course at the EII Japanese Language Centre. I have now been teaching Japanese to students of all levels for nearly ten years.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching Japanese in Kumamoto, Japan 10 years ago. I teach both children and adults and from absolute beginners to advanced level students. After moving to England I've been teaching from my home.

I also have 8 years experience of teaching online using Skype and an interactive whiteboard for students all over the world. I have worked for a major Japanese online school for 2 years.

I have taught students who aim to take the JLPT exam, the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (from the1st to 5th grade), and who are studying for The Duke of Edinburgh award.

I have also helped business people who are planning to work for Japanese companies.

My lesson fees are as follows:

Face-to-face lessons/Online lessons

• Private Lessons : £28 for a one hour individual lesson

• Group Lessons
2 people : £23per person for a one hour lesson (at my home)
3 people : £20 per person for a one hour lesson
4-5 people : £18 per person for a one hour lesson
6-8 people : £15per person for a one hour lesson

You can take group lessons with your friends or family members. Discounted lesson rates are available if you can collect a group of between 2 and 8 people.

Tutoring Approach:

I begin by introducing essential sentence patterns and teaching how to use them in practise conversations. I use role-play to make the conversations real and teach how to speak Japanese naturally. You will soon realise my lessons are completely different from normal language studies at school and find that my method is both practical and effective.

Personal Description:
I am happy to offer you English, French, Spanish and Russian lessons tailored to your needs.

I am a qualified teacher with 13 years` experience in Moscow, Paris and London.
I graduated from Moscow Pedagogical State University and Pushkin Institute. I hold a Master of Education (distinction). Additionally, I passed the CELTA in Paris and acquired a further DELTA qualification.

I am bilingual in English and Russian and fluent in French and Spanish, so I have always been a part of improving children's cognitive development and helped navigate three different worlds as a majority of my students have been more or less exposed to two or three cultures simultaneously.

I am a well-organised strong classroom performer who is able to effectively communicate with students from diverse backgrounds, varying degrees of ability and ages. Teaching groups and one to one teaching is equally rewarding. However, this is the latter one that gives you an amazing possibility to tailor the session towards the needs, level and capability of a student.

By using my enthusiasm felt by learners and readiness to experiment, I can maintain a positive climate where students can reach their full potential.
As an inspirational teacher with high personal standards, I am committed to the learning and development of my students. I have high expectations of both myself and my students, and show an interest in every student as an individual.

I feel that my greatest strengths are my ability to inspire love of languages in students, to motivate them in developing a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.

I work with students of different levels (Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced) and age groups (preschool children, schoolchildren, students, adults).

Personal Description:
I had been a full time native Japanese teacher/lecturer in the UK between 2006 and 2018 after completing MA in Japanese Applied Linguistics at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in 2006. I have become a professional private teacher for individuals and companies as I realised my passion is to support those students who are keen on improving Japanese through private tuitions. I have established an academy of Japanese Studies since 2015.

Teaching Experience:

My cooperate training contracts
- SONY (2016-present)
- Tokyo Esque (2017-present)
- Deloitte (2017-2018)
- Bank of Tokyo - Mitsubishi UFJ (2017-2018)
- Ashurst (2016)
- Polar Capital (2015-2016)
- British Museum (2015)

In the past, I taught the Japanese language to
-> the students of BA in Japanese at SOAS (2011 & 2014-2018),
-> the general public, university students and business people at King`s College London (2009-2017),
-> the UK diplomats at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2013 - 2016),
-> the president and the top managers at Dentsu Aegis Network (2013 - 2014),
-> the students of BA in Japanese at the University of Sheffield (2006 - 2009).

Tutoring Approach:

My passion for language teaching is to contribute to the society where people need more global minded attitudes and mutual understanding. I will help you understand Japanese culture from the native perspective. By absorbing the Japanese mind set, you will begin to perceive, process, and express yourself in an authentic Japanese way. In the lessons (including online lessons), we will explore the speech and body language of native Japanese speakers - this will increase your awareness of the feelings that lie behind Japanese expressions. By following this approach, you will use a more appropriate grammatical structure and word usage, allowing you to speak Japanese more naturally.

Personal Description:
Hi everyone! I'm a Japanese teacher in Birmingham/Sutton Coldfield. I grew up in Tokyo Japan, worked in various industries in Japan and America, including international film festivals (as an organiser), research institute (as a researcher), charity organisaion for environment, and schools (as a teacher) etc. I studied social anthropology and hold bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology. I currently live in Birmingham UK and teach Japanese online and in classrooms (a British boarding school and Saturday Japanese school). I can help you learn from basic Japanese to GCSE, A level or travel, survival, business, or even academic level if you like! I love arts, music, reading, gardening, DIY, cooking, baking, eating, crafting, painting, soap making, knitting, traveling, walking, scuba diving, skiing, "Onsen" natural hot spring spas...and much more!

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Japanese for over 10 years for pupils at Primary school, GCSE, A level, as well as undergraduate and master's degrees students from various universities such as London SOAS, Warwick, Sheffield, York, Durham. I also taught adult tutees for their casual conversations and JLPT exam preparation. I teach GCSE and A levels at a boarding school in Shropshire both in class room and online. I really enjoy teaching the language and culture to those who are willing to learn more. My tutees tend to learn with me for multiple years, so I try various methods and approaches to keep their interests going. Some of them leant with me for 10 years! :-)

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a very strict teacher who would… no I'm only kidding! I am an easy-going, patient, and experienced teacher. I can help make your learning journey much easier and joyful one. I use various materials such as textbooks, online articles, original files or free flow conversations - answering any questions you come up with. I am flexible and would love to discuss what your aim/target is when we start (first lesson is free trial). I can also tell you about Japanese culture both in traditional and modern/pop field that you might be interested in and to help you want to learn even more about Japanese language and culture in future! It's all tailor-made lessons for you :-) My background is not exactly coming from teaching, and I believe that is where my strength is as a teacher. I used to study cultural studies / social anthropology up to master's degree in Japan. I have been always fascinated by learning and knowing different society, culture and people. I used to work as an international film festival director, interpreter/translator, environmental -social NPO worker, researcher (environment and energy) for a research institute in addition to working as a teacher. I traveled a lot before living in the UK. My wide range of experiences of living in different countries as well as working for various industries can contribute to my lessons to be more interesting and informative for you (I hope!). I have excellent communication skills, patience, passion to teach, and curiosity to learn new things.

Personal Description:
I studied French and Japanese as part of my degree in Applied Language and Translation Studies at Dublin City University and Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. As part of my degree, I also studied linguistics, and how to learn languages most effectively, given how the brain retains language. I have also taken the Irish Leaving Cert Japanese exam (A-Level equivalent) and Japanese Language Proficiency tests, so I have plenty of resources geared towards exams if that is your goal. If you are a more casual learner I am happy to make the lessons more fun and conversational, based on your preferences :)

Teaching Experience:

This year, I have taught my younger brother a 2 year higher level Japanese syllabus in 6 months for his Leaving Certificate exams, as he only found out in January there was a foreign language requirement for the course he wants to take in university. This was achieved through clever resources and study plan. With only 6 months tuition (one quarter of the usual 2 year syllabus time), my brother passed higher level Japanese with a grade equalling between 50-60%.

Other language teaching experience:
While in Japan I taught Japanese students English as a Foreign Language, from ages 4 to 20; in Ireland I gave casual English lessons to a Lithuanian woman who already had conversational English, but wanted to better understand certain English grammatical points; I also have a TEFL 160 course to teach English as a Foreign Language.

Other teaching experience:
I teach beginners piano every week from home.

Tutoring Approach:

Using the concepts learned in my Linguistics degree for language learning (L+1, Optimised Intervals for Repetition and Content Exposure for Memorisation Incentive), we will put a study plan in place with clever resources to ensure language learning is both fun and effective! We want our lessons to be so effective that we spend less time studying, and more time learning :)

Personal Description:
Experienced Native Japanese Tutor, based in Chehire. Fun, Friendly & Personalised Lessons. All levels are welcome✨

Hello! I'm Keiko, a native Japanese tutor based in Cheshire, in the UK. I love helping people from all backgrounds not just learn Japanese, but truly enjoy the experience and feel confident using it in everyday conversations.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking and discovering delicious food from around the world . I love travelling, spending time with my Jack Russell Terrier Stella, and learning new things myself - at the moment, I'm studying Spanish 🇪🇸 and having fun with guitar, drumming and dancing. As a fellow learner, I really understand the ups and downs of studying a new language.

Whether you're just starting out, returning after a break, or looking to build fluency, I'll guide you in a supportive and enjoyable way - no need to be perfect, just open to learning at your own pace. Lessons with me are friendly, relaxed, and focused on steady progress.

Teaching Experience:

I've been teaching Japanese for over 10 years, both online and in person, to learners of all ages - from young children and teenagers to adults at every level. Each lesson is carefully tailored to suit your individual needs, goals, and interests.

Lessons are taught in Japanese, English, or a mix - whichever you prefer - and always at a pace that works for you. My focus is on making the language practical, accessible, and enjoyable, no matter your reason for learning.

📚 Here's what you can expect at different levels:

🌱 Beginners

- Learn hiragana and katakana step-by-step
- Build useful phrases for daily life and travel
- Begin speaking from the very first lessons
- Pick up natural expressions and everyday slang

🌿 Intermediate learners

- Improve fluency through speaking and listening
- Use grammar and vocabulary in real-world contexts
- Express opinions and ideas clearly
- Start enjoying anime, manga or reading simple articles

🌸 Advanced learners

- Speak more fluently and naturally
- Learn formal and business Japanese (keigo)
- Discuss culture, news, and social issues in Japanese
- Understand subtle, native-level expressions and nuance

In every lesson, you'll receive:
✔ Clear, simple explanations of grammar
✔ Personalised lesson plans
✔ Speaking and listening practice
✔ Encouragement and support - mistakes are always welcome here!

Tutoring Approach:

✨If you've ever thought:
"I want to speak Japanese naturally",
"I love anime or Japanese culture and want to understand more",
or "I'm learning for travel, work, or personal growth" - you're in the right place.

Many learners feel nervous about speaking, or have struggled to stay motivated in the past. That's completely normal - and you're definitely not alone. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, confident, and excited about your progress.

✨In my lessons:

- You can learn at your own pace in a relaxed, friendly environment

- It's perfectly fine to make mistakes - that's how we learn

- Lessons are designed just for you, with your goals in mind

- You'll build real communication skills, not just textbook knowledge

Learning Japanese should feel fun and rewarding, not stressful or overwhelming. I'm here to support you every step of the way and help you enjoy the journey.

Let's build your Japanese skills together - one step at a time, with confidence and a smile. I look forward to meeting you in our lesson!

Personal Description:
My name is Chelsea. I graduated from Newcastle University in 2016 with a degree in Japanese Studies and have been teaching the language for over 10 years.

I live in a small rural village with my partner and cat.

I'm happy to provide both face-to-face tuition locally or online lessons via Google Meet and Teams.

When I'm not teaching, I'm usually watching East Asian dramas, walking, or playing games online. I'm also a big fan of taking pictures of my cat, Squeak; she may insist on making an appearance during online lessons, but I promise she won't be too distracting!

Teaching Experience:

I've been a private tutor for over 10 years, teaching Japanese to all sorts of people - from children to retirees. Most of my lessons are online, but I also do in-person sessions locally.

I don't just do weekly lessons; I'm also happy to do one-off sessions for specific goals. I've helped people get ready for trips to Japan, assisted with wedding speech pronunciation, and worked with self-learners to help them find the right books and resources so they don't get overwhelmed.

Outside of private tutoring, I've run taster sessions at public events and given talks on Japanese culture. Whatever your reason for wanting to learn, I've probably worked with someone in a similar boat and can help you get started.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a very flexible approach so we can work at a pace that suits you. For my lessons, I use PowerPoint presentations to guide us through grammar and example sentences. I keep these simple and use coloured visuals to break things down so they're easier to digest. After each lesson, I'll share the presentation with you so you can refer back to it whenever you need.

Because of this setup, we have a good structure but can easily "flip back" to old grammar points if you need a refresher. I also try to get to know your hobbies and interests so I can use them in our examples - it makes the language much more relevant to your life.

Homework is entirely up to you and your own pace. I can set weekly vocabulary, sentence practice, or flashcards, but it's always your choice. For online lessons, I use Teams or Google Meet, which is very seamless. If we meet in person, I'll bring my laptop to go through the same content, along with any textbooks or paper resources we might need.

Most importantly, I keep things friendly and relaxed. It's 100% okay to make mistakes in my lessons - it's all part of the journey!
