I am a native Spanish speaker with teaching experience in Italy, Spain and the UK.
I have worked as a translator and now hold the position of Lead Teacher of Spanish with French at a secondary School. I also hold a qualification in Italian which together with my teaching experience in the country provide me with a deep Knowledge of the language.

I have always been passionate about languages and I strongly believe I can transmit this to my pupils.

Teaching Experience:
-April 2009 to present: Secondary school teacher of French and teacher in charge of Spanish. During this time I have given extra tuition for French and Spanish to three school pupils and all of them achieved A*. Home tution for Italian, Spanish and French.

-January 2008 to April 2009: I worked in various schools around the county as a MFL and music teacher. Two of this positions were for several months.

-2006: Teacher of English as a Second Language in Spain.

-2004-2005: Teacher of Spanish for the Politecnico university of Turin. I also worked as a translator during my time in Italy. This employment proved very rewarding from the intellectual point of view as made strive to get translations as close to the original language as possible.

2003: Volunteer teacher of Spanish and English as a Second Language at a charity organisation in Spain.

My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. After three years, I dedicated some time to focus on my music and writing, but soon I also pursued a career in Adult and Community Education, developing my teaching practice and experience and creating courses, programmes and tailored lessons for groups and individuals. I gained a certificate to teach adults (PTLLS), and have worked both with a great number of private clients, with a college (Redmaids School for Girls, where I have been Italian Teaching Assistant), with adult education organisations (City of Bristol College, Bristol City Council, The Bristol Folk House) and with Language Schools (International House, The Language Experience, Bristol Language School).

Tutoring Approach:
I am happy to teach at all levels, from complete beginner to advanced conversation. I have gained a solid experience due to the diversity of my clients and of the environments where I have taught and I currently teach. I will tailor my lessons exactly to your current needs, and will use and recommend varied strategies for learning according to your preferred learning style, covering Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing. I also value a focus on Pronunciation: when you study a new language you literally enter a new cultural world of sounds, and it's better to familiarise with it as soon as possible. My lessons are playful and interactive, and my aim is for you to feel at ease, so that you can make mistakes without fear, and therefore enjoy the process of learning.

At intermediate and advanced levels, when students have a basis for an exploration of cultural topics, I'm very passionate about using original cultural texts, from literature to newspapers, from video interviews to films or documentaries. I find it very rewarding to share with my students the excitement of exploration, discovery, beauty and reflection that comes from engaging with culture.

Personal Description:
Pleased to meet you, my name is Cristina, I am Italian and I am 30 years old.
I am a very sunny and active girl. I really like travelling, getting to know new cultures, doing outdoor activities.

Teaching Experience:
Since I've been at university, I've started giving private lessons to high school kids, in maths, physics, science, grammar and english.
After university I worked as a teacher in a primary school, teaching the basics of various subjects to children aged 7 to 12.
In recent years I have started giving Italian lessons to teenagers and adults of different nationalities.

Tutoring Approach:
During my lessons I speak exclusively in Italian. I have found over the years that this is the most effective way to learn a language. I divide my lessons with a grammar part, exercises and I always leave a good space for free conversation.
My personal experience has taught me that making an effort to understand and not being afraid of making mistakes when speaking speeds up learning considerably.
