My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. Hi guys, to start off with my academic background: I studied at Winchester College and Cambridge University.

I was generally a straight A* student at Winchester, and in my final exams I received some of the highest Cambridge Pre-U grades in the UK for my subjects of Philosophy & Theology, Russian and French (these were D1, D1, D2 - which translates in A-Level terms to A**, A**, A*). At Cambridge I studied a mix of Theology and Philosophy, with a focus on philosophy (ethics and metaphysics), history and literature papers.

In terms of my personal background: I was born in London and have lived in Islington most of my life. I've travelled a great deal, and in my gap year I spent stretches of time living in and travelling around America, Italy, Malta, Russia, Jordan and Pakistan.

In my free time I like classic cinema (Hitchcock especially) and novels (Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Dickens are my favourites) but I'm curious about everything really, and I read books of any kind whenever I have the time - especially those relating to History (classical and modern), Philosophy, Theology, Politics, and Literary Analysis.

For most of my professional life so far I've worked as a salesman, lawyer and corporate strategist. 1. So first of all we'll have an introductory session to determine what your interests, strengths/weaknesses and ultimate aims are. If you like me then we can have another session!

I enjoy teaching students of different ability levels and cultural backgrounds and take pleasure in making the subject interesting for my students. When teaching, I aim to provide a stimulating and interactive learning environment. I plan my lessons with care to make sure that I've included appropriate activities and exercises for the students' level by using a variety of teaching strategies and methods to support the engagement of all learners (including making provisions for students with learning difficulties by differentiating activities that are suitable for the different learning styles). Hi, I am a 2nd year medical student at the University of Manchester. I have a range of interests, of course including sciences and medicine, but also in music and history. I achieved top A level and GCSE results, and am passionate about passing my learning onto others. I am looking for students aged 11+ and have evening and weekend availability.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience leading groups of a range of ages in a school environment as well as working with individuals to help them achieve their goals and further their skills in their area of interest. I have been tutoring for two years now, having started in my gap year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed helping pupils significantly increase their grades. My most recent GCSE students increased their science grades from 4s to 8s in around a year of tutoring. I also volunteer at a secondary school orchestra, working with players who are struggling, which often involves explaining concepts and recommending the most efficient practice methods, in a very similar way to when helping in an academic situation.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is tailored around the goals of each individual, which I will assess in the first session. For GCSE and A level students I commonly use exam questions to work on exam technique and assess the student's understanding of a subject area. For all levels I will explain any challenging topics and provide activities to consolidate this learning, should that be required. I can also help students go over worksheets completed in class or as homework to ensure they have the maximum understanding of the current topic.
