Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher with good subject knowledge.
I like to adopt a deductive style teaching and go on to inductive in areas were a tutee has difficulty.
I am able to discuss and arrange tutoring times.
My main subjects are English, History, RE/RS and some other Humanities.
I have achieved a great deal of success taking low performing learners to well / high performing GCSE results.
Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience has largely been in secondary school, some FE lecturing and a hint of primary school..
I have been a teacher / tutor for over ten years.
I am able to teach and communicate effectively across the board.
I am able to pick up tutoring from its 'ABC', meeting the tutee where they are and bringing them to a successful ending.
I can confidently say I have been tried and tested with my tutees' GCSE results.
My ability to break down complex learning to simple understanding and employing comfortable vocabulary enhances the tutee's ability to engage enthusiastically.
I try to apply real life scenarios to help learners understand and appreciate better.
I manage behaviour and I have been teaching mixed ability children.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to figure out where the tutee is at, their challenging area and work them through it.
I strive to get learners to overcome communication barriers, be comfortable at communicating and reading, and I put the learner ahead of their current school topics.
Giving homework and marking to assess progress and achievement.
Using both verbal and interactive styles of learning example demos and ICT, games and role play where possible.
